If anyone was going to make a porn app for Google Glass, you just had to know it would be the shameless, fearless folks over at Mikandi. They have announced “Tits and Glass,” the (literally) in your face porn app that could become hazardous for those who need a bit of eye candy while driving. Tits and Glass allows Glass wearers to take photos of… stuff, and submit them to be viewed and voted on by other users. You can view photos if that’s all you’re interested in, and take pride in knowing that sweet seduction is only an eye jump away.
It’s a tough area for Mikandi to tackle, especially considering Google seems to have recently changed its terms of use without any warning. According to Mikandi:
We just found out that Google changed their terms over the weekend to prohibit sexually explicit content in Glassware. It seems that Google changed their terms after we announced that we were developing adult apps for the device.
So this wasn’t something Google has always thought about, but now that it’s out there it seems El Goog doesn’t have a problem putting the clamps down on Mikandi too early. This isn’t too surprising considering they take a similar stance against porn apps in the Google Play Store. We imagine a porn app that lets you capture and share images with Glass is even more of a hazardous area for Google than a simple porn store on Android phones, as head-mounted cameras come with all sorts of privacy concerns.
We’ve inquired about the possibility of getting Tits & Glass sideloaded in the event that Google decides to ban it from Glassware, but things aren’t looking too great at the moment. Mikandi notes that its app has been downloaded by over a dozen Glass users since it went live a little over a week ago.
Of course, this app is highly inappropriate for anywhere but the privacy of your own home, so I suggest you keep it swept beneath the rug until you’re well clear of society. Oh, and don’t feel left out if you don’t own a pair of Glass — you can still partake in all the adult-only fun at the app’s website. Remember, folks: this is strictly NSFW, NSFS, NSFF, NSFAnything. Doesn’t surprise me, the porn industry have always been innovators and early adopters of new technology. They caught on to VCR’s early and changed their entire distribution method, in fact they were a major deciding factor in the VHS-Betamax war. They were also among the first to successfully monetize the internet in a big way. And then there’s transsexual midget pirate voyeurism foot fetishes. Yup, they’re clearly ahead of the curve, or the hook as the case may be.

1. Sony had a stranglehold on BetaMax and tried to dictate it as an ‘industry standard’ (sound familiar? Blu-Ray vs HD DVD)
2. Beta camcorders could only record, cannot play back (VHS camcorders could do both, so you could get by with one machine)
3. Limited recording time (Beta 2hr vs 8 hr VHS)
4. JVC was better at marketing and licensing its baby –> VHS. They were able to produce more as a company and license others to make even more machines.
It’s fun to say porn killed of Betamax because PORN… but that doesn’t make it true.
Revisionist history. Corporate executives don’t like admitting porn exists in their worlds, neither as a key to success or a reason for failure. They’re all good family men busy being the face of the corporation. You won’t find quoted sources nicely referenced on wikipedia because people don’t go on record about such things. But if you were there at the time you’d have know the impact. In the trenches where it counted – video stores and in homes – VHS had a competitive advantage in retail distribution and commercial appeal to 50% of the population. Beta had its disadvantages, but it was a higher quality product and held its own until entrepreneurs overwhelmingly favoured the VHS format. Was porn the only factor? No. Was it a major factor? Undoubtedly, yes.

I haven’t used the app on my phone for quite awhile, but last time I used it, it was a really lackluster experience. I would much rather use a powerful mobile browser and just do it the old fashioned way, unless Mikandi can really ramp up the quality.
