Custom ROMs are great. They allow you do all kinds of crazy wonderful things to your phone, tweaking and modifying software to your heart’s content. Of course as most ROM-addicts already know, they can also give you bugs. These sorta things just come with the turf, we know.
Some users running the “stable” version of the CyanogenMod custom ROM (version 10.1.0 RC3), might have fallen out of their chairs after looking at their data usage for the month. Users normally hitting 500MB for the month were given quite a scare to discover their devices smashing though that 2GB warning, and hitting upwards of 20GB.
Apparently, this little “bug” was nothing more than a reporting error, and didn’t affect all users. It had something to do with a specific processor the boys at CyanogenMod used to test their ROM. No worries, they quickly issued a fix with CM10.10 RC4. The latest stable ROM should fix that small issue right up and as the CM boys put it, “does math again.” So, which ever forum you use to grab your CM, might wanna head on over if you haven’t already and update.

Carriers should be limited to 20GB of data at least(month) if they don’t want unlimited data.

Nothing was using 20GB. It was a math error in CM10.1.0 RC3… O_o
But wait… What was actually using the data? =)
My understanding is that data was only transferred on paper, but not in practise.
E.g. they could have multiplied the data transferred by a 100 and 200MB would look like 20GB all of a sudden. So a maths error…

rc4 is also doing the same thing….says I used 10gigs in less than a day….
same here, rc4 didnt fix it for toro… maybe rc4 only fixed a handful of devices?
i know the new play music streaming service eats data.. but 15gb in 3 hours of playing music is outrageous! /s
It is not using 15GB in 3 hours, it is just a math bug in the display.

Any other good stock roms for gs3 besides cyanogen I’m back to factory was thinking about flashing it to cyan again but would like to see what eles there is

HA! Mine was up to 560GB+. Did a quick reboot and now I’m at 156GB. Good thing I have unlimited data, LOL.
I had no issues with RC3, but it was doing this with RC4. I’m on the 6/3/13 nightly now and all is well – Verizon Galaxy Nexus.
