It seems every time we’re introduced to a “Mini” variant of new phones we’re taken aback by the fact that the phones were once considered to be quite large. Such is the case with the 4.3-inch Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and the rumored HTC One Mini. That’s why Oppo caught my eye rather quickly with its 3.7-inch Oppo Find 5 Mini.
Even this was considered quite large “back in the day,” with Mini phones often being minted in 2.8-inch variety as 3.2 inches and 3.5 inches were the norm. MyDrivers is suggesting this device might even be 720p, which would produce an astounding pixel density of 396.92. This thing would look rather sharp at that size, and we would be quite surprised to see that this turns out to be true (though, considering Oppo’s impressive track record as of late we have no reason to doubt them).
This phone also differs from today’s typical “mini” variants in that it might actually come with a decent processor. While everyone is putting 1GHz dual-core chipsets into their handsets Oppo might be considering making this a quad-core beast.
The breadth of our knowledge stops there, unfortunately, aside from the obvious fact that it will come in a variety of different colors. We’re hoping to hear more about this little guy at some point this summer, but for now just take a look at the size comparison and see how it stacks up to the original Oppo find 5.

no i finished high school…it was the devils lair i tell you!!!! i have a sort of good job as data entry for a company that helps patients of a hospital if the pt’s don’t have insurance.
This is cool for the audience it’s made for but I want to see what the Find 6 or whatever it will be called is. That’s the device I’ll probably look to purchase
Samsung, please take some notes from this educational moment.
Bravo Oppo. THIS is a mini smarpthone, not the silly offerings from Samsung and HTC. And I bet there’s a huge market out there for this form factor. I for one have refused to let my Nokia E52 go because -among other things- the huge size of the current smartphones.
Now let’s see how they manage to put a good-enough battery inside that little thing.
Oppo has some pretty high end offerings in the DVD/Blueray business. I’d be excited to see what they’d be able to put together for smartphones.

It’s too bad these phones don’t make it to the U.S. on a mainstream basis. Wouldn’t mind having a mini for a backup phone.
This is fantastic and if it follows the model of mini phones as cheaper, smaller variants and ditching the low-end hardware portion I’m all in.
A price-point of Nexus 4 or sub would be amazing, though I don’t expect it – it’d be a great smaller back-up device or gift for the girlfriend, colorful and innovative; that’s what we like to see, if this is true I hope Oppo keeps up the great work.
