Motorola customers now have a new buying option when checking out via their online retail site, the all new Motorola Credit Account. Barely going live only moments ago, Motorola now offers customers the option to finance their next smartphone purchase, offering zero interest for up to 6, 12, or 18 months.
Of course, the usual caveats apply. The most obvious being above average credit if you hope to get approved. After that, it’ll take a minimum $549 purchase (before tax) to qualify for the longer 18 months interest-free financing. That being said, your only real options are the more expensive Moto X 32GB carrier or Developer Edition, or a fancy new Motorola Droid Maxx.
We’ll have to go through the fine print, but from the looks of it, you can add additional items to your cart to bring that Moto X above $550, like a couple of those Chromecasts that recently went up on Motorola’s site. More info down at the source link.

Wouldn’t any 32 GB Moto X purchased off contract qualify as well? It’s priced at $549.99. I need to replace a dying Tbolt and don’t want to loose my unlimited data.
Only way to buy is through Motomaker and they only offer the 16GB version for the big 4 carriers ($499). Kinda lame. :/
If you want 32GB, you’ll have to opt for the Developer Edition.
Not true…I made a 32 gb version for verizon. Once you complete the initial design there is a page that give you size options..
Ah, yeah. I see the option now. I think I was looking too hard for it. I’m dumb.
If you’re going to pay that much and finance it anyway, why not get the dev edition. It gives you so much more freedom!
It is my understanding that the Verizon Developer Edition only supports LTE Band 13 (750MHz) and not Band 4 (AWS). Verizon is supposedly spending money adding LTE capacity in the AWS bands, so if your phone only supports band 13, you won’t be able to take advantage of the (less loaded) LTE cells.
Sorry to tell you, but my wife and I just completed the purchase of 2 32 GB phones for Verizon, and payed for it using the Motorola financing. The option to change from 16 GB to 32 GB is in the second tab in the top right of the Motomaker.
ATM,the link to “APPLY FOR MOTOROLA CREDIT ACCOUNT” posted here works, but, the link on MOTO’s site does not.
The addresses are slightly different, perhaps that’s the cause……..
The link on the Motomaker worked for us. Maybe they fixed it, or maybe a bug with your browser. We used Chrome. Hope it starts working for you.
I meant the link to the MOTO CREDIT on their site wasn’t working, everything else there does. Was able to access MOTOCREDIT w/the link Chris provided @ the end of the article.
CHROME both desktop & mobile……
It’s all good, was able to accomplish what I intended to.
Loving this new GooMoto approach. Fast product updates, carrier bypass marketing and web sales, selling chromecasts, now this. Screw carrier payment plans and buy direct. Go moto!
I love this. Now I can subsidize a verizon Motorola phone (ala uncarrier), keep my unlimited data plan (same price as T-Mo’s unlimited), and get an unlocked bootloader.
Thanks Google
Good going Google/Motorola, I have a feeling we will be seeing a much more focused Motorola in 2014. The Moto X could have been handled better, but I like the way they are going with these devices (no bloat, fast updates, etc).
I say about a year or two of consistent updates and stylish phones is all they need to get their brand back. And potentially take some of Samsung’s shares along too.
But what matters the most is that Google advertises the hell out of the Moto X, G, and all the future Motorola phones if they want to have success.
Hmmmmm… Wondering if Google might soon begin offering financing options in the Play Store as well?
that will be dream come true for me
I’d get one immediately.
Everyone would get one. =.P
do i have to get the card first ?? becuase i was approve, could I use it with out the card?
