While Sony’s Xperia Z1 line, including the Sony Xperia Z1, Sony Xperia Z1s, and Sony Xperia Z1 contract, is still impressing the shirts off our backs, it looks like the Japanese company could be working on even more heavy hitters for the future. What we’re seeing below are picture of the Sony D6503, which has supposedly been codenamed “Sirius.”
According to the XDA resident who leaked the device, it’ll apparently come equipped with Qualcomm’s 2.3Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, and a whopping 3GB of RAM. Beyond that, folks are also told to expect a 5.2-inch 1080p HD display, as well as the same 20.7 megapixel camera sensor featured on the aforementioned Z1 line.
Alongside shots of the device, we are also treated to shots of its Android 4.3-based user interface. You should note that Sony is expected to launch this thing with KitKat. Changes to the user experience seem fairly minor up against their smartphones of today, though we could probably see some new bits with the KitKat-based build.
There was no word on when we can expect to see this device, but Sony has historically used Mobile World Congress to launch their first half products on a big stage. We’ll be seeing if they have anything to bring with them to Barcelona at some point early next month. Be sure to hit the source links for more.

I’m in line for a new phone this July, I’m still waiting to see if Motorola have anything up their sleeves. I’ve been pretty pleased with them as of late.
Sony is really making me antsy to purchase one of their devices… If it weren’t for the fact that I am sporting a N5 already, I’d jump ship
This why I think phandroid needs someone on the weekends this is very old news well two days old
I don’t really feel that the extra gig of ram is worth an upgrade for anyone that already has a 800, why not go with the 805? That doesn’t make sense, I haven’t had my G2 bottleneck over lack of memory running anything.
And of course, no Verizon. Damn.
Sony, don’t drop USA like a wet blanket and don’t ignore CDMA and we can get you a lot of friends…
still based on snapdragon 800? why not use the latest 805?
Because it doesn’t support cellular connectivity on the chip
But it doesn’t the chip will not be used in phones isn’t it? Well my point is their last year flagship already use snapdragon 800 so this year flagship still use the same soc?
Sony is starting to get like Samsung now, throw out a ton of devices and see what sticks. All Sony really needs to do is upgrade the screen or at least use the same screen in their Z1 since they apparently use 2 different screens (one does a much better job at not washing out on off axis viewing than the other) and get rid of some of the top and bottom bezel which has nothing to do with making it waterproof, maybe and I stress maybe for shock proofing per se. Even that wouldn’t be enough for a Z2 model since the Snapdragon 800 is plenty for the phone as it is.
Correction to the first sentence of this article…
“Sony Xperia Z1 contract” should read “Sony Xperia Z1 compact”
Phandroid bros:
Quit talking about the Snapdragon 805. It doesn’t support cellular yet; it’s an embedded SoC for now.
