We’ve been hearing whisperings about Sony’s follow up to the Sony Xperia Z1, better known by its codename: the Sony “Sirius.” Today, we have what appears to be our first “Sirius” look at the device (see what I did there?) after YouTube user Rimas Flyil got his hands on the Sony D6503 (allegedly the Z2) and uploaded a detailed 12-minute walkthrough video. In the video, Rimas explores all the ins and outs of the device — and in complete silence because sometimes you don’t need a commentary when showing a phone off.
The device looks largely similar to Sony’s previous offerings, running Android 4.4.2 KitKat and coming equipped with software features such as the built-in “Glove mode” for using the device with gloves on, Simple Home mode for the elderlies, tap-to-wake (similar to the LG G2), and the ability to toggle notifications for individual apps (a la iOS). The video also shows off Sony’s camera app which contains a plethora of shooting modes and features, and has the ability to video in 4K thanks to the 20.7MP camera (and beefy processor, no doubt).
Check out the video below for yourself and before you come to any conclusions, remember that this is listed as a prototype running an extremely early KitKat build. We’re sure we’ll be providing you with our own hands-on during Mobile World Congress, so be on the look out.
I think Sony is the only OEM that has the ability to pull me away from HTC, unless Samsung can improve on two things this year, build quality and UI, this is solely my opinion so any stupid replys, yall know what to kiss
I completely agree, I had the xperia Z and loved it. I moved to the HTC One and am also loving it. I had the note 2 previously and hated it because it creaked and groaned just picking it up and I really didn’t like touchwiz at all. The two to beat in my opinion (don’t flame me) are Sony and HTC with Motorola close behind. I just prefer a well done manufacturer skin to stock android and I really like Sense and Sony’s UI, combined with their build quality it’s a great experience.
I want to go on a limb and agree with both of you.
Oh I completely agree with every word, every single word
Even with the HTC One and Xperia Z I’d have replaced the stock UI with something custom of my creation. It’s the wonderful thing about Android. Customization. I’ll never be satisfied rocking an out-of-the-box look from any mobile device.
You shouldn’t feel a need to defend yourself bruv. Opinions are opinions. Nothing that should be attacked. Samsung’s TW is poop in my opinion and if their build quality would improve (there’s always room for improvement) I think your right it would draw more consumers towards them.
the only reason i defend myself is because fanboys are quick to attack someone based off of someones opinion, so i basically come at them before they come at me, lol, but for some reason i think this is gonna be one heck of year for alot of OEMS, more powerful processors, better screen tech, and batteries are finally getting on the level of the droid maxx, this year no flagship phone should come equipped any less that 3000 mah
These fanboys and girls are a pathetic result of influential adverts and a culture manufactured by Apple/Samsung/HTC/Sony/Google/LG…
You create camps, sectarian-like atmosphere within consumers and you get increased sales numbers and ad revenue. It’s pathetic. Shouldn’t consumers purchase a product based on their needs/wants and not because of the name on it? I don’t continue to buy Samsung mobile phones because of their name. I appreciate and value the options they’ve provided me as a consumer. If HTC or LG would provide me similar options like Micro SD support and removable batteries I’d buy their products.
The iSheep moniker applies to any consumer who has rabbit support and loyalty towards a private company. I’ll never respect a human who behaves in such a way. These are products people. Not your family.
The worst example of this is Richard Yarrell from Google+, that guy is bandwagonner and thinks that each current device that he owns is the best and continually mocks anyone that isn’t using a Note 3, even those that use a Note 2 lol. He did the same thing when he owned a HTC.
Is he supposed to be someone important? Never heard of him. But mocking folks for not using a mobile device you are using is as childish as you can get. I use a Note 3 because it fulfills me needs/wants. Not because of outside influence. Thanks for the input sir.
He’s a known troll, he’s been banned from a number of tech sites, including here. He’s become notorious on G+ over the past year, he’s even got a few guys following him who call themselves “The Samsung Knights” and they continuously troll most of the Android communities.
Hahahaha! You gotta be kidding me?! These are grown adults? Goodness. Another reason to weep for humanity.
Yeah fanboys are just terrible, they always ruin good discussions and there is absolutely no reasoning with them. Those console fanboys might be even worse, I think.
Am I the only person that was excited about the phone until they watched the video and saw the slowness and unresponsive control? Maybe it’s just the demo version of the phone.
is it me or it has the same lg knock sound when powered on and off seems like a well made ROM to me
I like those niche features. It’s the small things that matter. Can’t wait to see final version.
My
Uncle Caleb just got red Ford Focus ST by working off of a computer. try this CashDuties.ℂom
Touch responsiveness looks pretty bad and why the wasted bezel at the bottom?
In fairness these bezels look bigger than the new HTC One.
