A few months ago we told you guys about Pressy, a small hardware button that fits into your device’s 3.5mm headphone jack that can perform certain actions based on the button presses you input.
For instance, three quick clicks, can initiate a call, while one long click could turn WiFi on and off. While we’re all waiting for that neat idea to ship, another one has popped up… and you don’t even need to buy a third-party dongle.
QuickClick is the same concept, except it uses your device’s volume buttons to receive commands. It doesn’t differentiate between long and short clicks like Pressy, but you can use a combination of clicks from both volume up and volume down to throw together a ton of different unique actions.
Clicks can be configured to do a large number of things. Here’s a quick list to get you started:
- Take a photo or a video
- Toggle flashlight on and off
- Record an audio
- Make a call
- Start a message
- Launch a Tasker task
- Start any of your apps!
Each action also has its own set of configurations such as playing a sound when that action is triggered, play a vibration pattern, and more. It’s a nice alternative to Pressy, so be sure to check it out in the Google Play Store for free.
i like it!
Thanks for sharing. I just was going to set up something in Tasker to do just this. Looks like this’ll make it a bit easier and let me plug into something else in Tasker if I’d want
Why is there a gold version and non gold? And why would it need my GPS location? I’m giving it a shot anyway
Yeah I don’t get that, the non-gold version is just slightly smaller in size than the gold version. I’ll follow along in this app’s development but right now it looks like something in beta.
for gold you used to had to pay, not sure if there will be a paid version in future.
GPS location is a leftover after testing Admob mediation, will be removed in next
update, thanks. Blor Mobile
Thought this would be useful for taking photos, but it opens its own camera app and freezes the phone for a couple of seconds while doing it, so uninstalled.
Is there no simple way to make my volume button work as a camera button while the camera app is open?
You don’t say what phone you got, but this is standard on my Nexus 5 , and was the same on my previous phone Galaxy Nexus.
The reason I’m not gonna use this app is because there will be an icon on the top of my screen, plus the app is always there when I pull down the notificationbar.
open app>settings>notification settings>show the notifications>uncheck the box
Thanks, but the one you see when you pull down the bar is still there
It can be removed with gravity box.
