Still shrouded in mystery, with every passing day we’re hoping LG will finally make official the oft rumored LG G3. As far as possible carriers the phone will eventually be available on, we had little doubt the G3 would be making its way on over to Sprint (LG and Sprint have a good history together). Today, a new leak may be finally confirming those suspicions.
A device going by the model number LG LS990 (the previous Sprint G2 was LS980) showed up in a user agent profile. According to what was reported, this phone lines up perfectly with what we’ve been hearing about the LG G3. The only part that seems a little off is the fact that it was still using a Snapdragon 800 processor, the exact same SoC from the G2. Here’s the spec list:
Sprint LG G3 (LG LS990)
- Processor: 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974)
- Operating system: Android 4.4.2 KitKat
- Cellular connectivity: LTE / EVDO / IS2000
- Other connectivity: GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
- Display: 5.5-inch QHD (1440×2560)
- RAM: 3GB of RAM
- Internal storage: 32GB
- External storage: MicroSD cards up to 64GB
- Rear-facing camera: 13MP (Highest Image Resolution:4160×3120)
- Front-facing camera: 2.1M (Camcorder Resolution:1920×1080)
Yesterday, we got a sneak peek at the new UI LG might be going with for their 2K monster. And while a Snapdragon 800 processor may sound a bit disappointing, we’d be willing to bet this is only an early prototype model used for testing. Even if not, would that really be a deal breaker for any of you?
With a 5.5-inch display, it seems LG is creeping ever to slightly into phablet territory. With our sights already set on the Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, and the Sony Xperia Z2 for this year, it’d be nice to have one more option to mull over. Which phone are you waiting for?
Why LG… So they want the same CPU/GPU to power nearly double the pixels and add a gig of ram? I will just continue to recommend the G2 to people, was thinking this was going to be the next phone worth looking into.
Hang on to your pantyhose. The reason for all the higher specs and no increase in CPU/GPU specs is because these are just test unit specs. Lg can’t test the 805/420 until May. Will also support 128gb micro SD cards.
Hang on to your pantyhose. That made me laugh so much, hahaha. Thanks, Leroy.
Stop making phones bigger! 5″ is a pretty sweet spot for a phone screen.
Nope, 6″ with absolute minimal bezels. Notice that what’s important is the overall size of the phone and how heavy and slim it is… The screen the bigger the better.
6 is a little much for me but I might let 5.5-5.8 slide if extremely small bezels and maybe a curved display(takes up less space)
Is that a banana-shaped mobile device in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?
I somewhat agree. The G2 was smaller than the S4, with a 5.2′ screen.
I think the G2 was the sweet spot. Almost perfect phone.
The s4 is 5 inches exactly
Thinking of getting the G2 to replace my 2-year-old S3.
Do it.. Just got it for my wife, which previously she had the s3 and she loves it… Better battery is major reason
Have to say I agree to an extent. Above all else I really want to be able to properly pocket my phone.
I can overlook having the same processor as the G2 if they make the phone out of better materials and water resistant while keep the tiny bezel and rear buttons.
The G2 is my favorite phone to date.
Same here.
I can overlook how much of a first world problem that is if you stop surfing the Web or taking calls in the shower as I suspect you do.
Ever heard of rain or accidental drops in the toilet?
Ever heard of the idea of not using your phone in the rain or in the bathroom? Or an umbrella?
no
The same SoC would definitively be a dissapointment to me, could very likely be a dealbreaker for me since it would show no imprvement at all over the previous G2.
I am pretty sure these specs are not accurate. It would make zero sense for LG to release a phone with the same CPU as last year’s model. I am pretty sure the CPU into is just a placeholder for the Snapdragon 801 or 805 that it will actually ship with.
My guess is it’ll be the 805. They were the first to outdo the competition last year and I think they’ll do it again. 801 is already in the HTC M8 so…
Nah, they gonna slap that 801 in there… LG is al about the specs, they wouldnt release a G3 with the same processor. Man but a 5.5 inch screen sounds so good… I just hope the device would have the APPROPRIATE on-screen keys, have a proper recent apps button. Possibly get the UI more in line with what they did w/ the G Flex… then I’d be interested.
805, LG is usually the first one to announce/release a phone with the latest Snapdragon chip (S4 Pro [G], 600 [G Pro], 800 [G2]), following that trend would be… 805 [G3]
Yep I’d be very surprised if this wasn’t the case, it’ll most likely be an 805.
Not sure if sarcasm or extreme shortsightedness.
Dedicated recent apps button is not really necessary.
Oh man… I haven’t been keeping up with this, but if the G3 has a 5.5″ screen then it may just be my next phone. I’ve been using a G Pro (also 5.5″) as my daily driver and have been loving the available real estate, but Samsung’s phablets are just too darn wide/flat making them tough to use one-handed and the G Pro 2’s design is also a bit unwieldy. If LG can replicate the fantastic ergonomics of the G Pro with the G3 then they’ve (likely) found themselves a sale — even if the processor is the 800. (doubtful) One note however: a bump in resolution is absolutely unnecessary for phone-sized screens.
I wish I was rich enough to have a daily driver. As it stands I have to drive myself.
Z2 is still best phone so far. Hopefully and very likely that will change when the Note 4 is announced tho, but that’s gonna take a while =/
Z2 has hardware and quality issues. It’s off my list for now.

Oppo Find 7, One Plus One, LG G3 and Note 4 are the contenders.
I’m sure Sony will address those issues ASAP. I’m not buying a phone until the Note 4 is announced, I’m a very happy Note 3 owner btw. I also don’t intend to buy any phone without IPS67/8 from now on so the Note 4 better come with it.
The phone has bezels/space all around the display the size of a galaxy (pun intended). Your argument is invalid.
I confess I still have to see it/handle it in person but the specs, speakers ans IPS68 are just too many good things for me to ignore it. I’m a very happy Note 3 owner btw and I’m not buying anything until the Note 4 is announced.
Why have a 2K screen and only 1080p video recording? Especially when other phones have 4K already. Sounds dubious.
So its a safe bet these specs include the Adreno 330 gpu?
LG! Why you make big phones?!
Upvoted only for the meme connection. Buy an iPhone or gtfo if a big display is too much for you.
You’re some kinda bored right?
No, just some kinda disappointed with people hating all day, every day.
4″ displays are too small
5″ is just right, can go a little larger with very thin bezels
5.5″ is phablet territory, it’s too big.
I seriously doubt they will retain the same processor as last year’s model. LG made great strides with the G2 and I’m sure they’ll look to keep the pressure on other OEM’s by releasing another beast.
Omgomgomgomg it’s happening!!!!!
Ohm-nom-nom! Yummy LG G3!
That might be getting a little on the large side for my tastes. Still hoping for the aluminum shell and nice to see external storage if it holds true.
I’m hoping for a shell that filters out the stupid from comments about wanting metal devices everywhere. Get Metallica to build you one if you want one so badly.
This is NOT the G3.
The comment above is NOT cool.
Snapdragon 801 or GTFO
just got the LG G2.. oh well, i’ll wait until the LG G4 lol
Scumbag mobile device manufacturer. Makes great devices, releases them too often for you to make a decision to buy one.
I just got the G2 as well, its a great phone and I don’t care about the G3 very much. I will wait for final specs, but the G2 should last me a solid year or more
OPO is my next phone.
5.5″ screen has fail written all over it…my mother went it and looked at the g2 for her first smartphone bc they were offering it for free n quickly grabbed a moto x…these korean companies will never get it…this is why iphone will always remain the number1 smartphone sadly
your mother should trade you stupid-ass in for a iphone 3
Even he isn’t that worthless.
No, she should trade his stupid ass for a G3, a Nexus 10 (2014) and an HTC One M8. Or slap him and get into his head that the iPhone is dull.
At least she didn’t grab an iPhone. Also, millions of people worldwide (some of which aren’t crazy and evangelist practitioners of Apple-ism or Android-ism) agree that the iPhone is boring and static.
yeah right, troll harder
I don’t know what you’re complaining about, man. That trade comment of synplex was hilarious.
5.5″ screen? common….we dont all want phablets.
I think 5″ is perfect for a screen size.
