The new Moto X shows up in Verizon Wireless computer system, could launch with Moto Maker

Moto X1 evleaks

As Motorola’s September 4th event in Chicago fast approaches, we’re bound to find another leak or two surrounding the successors to the Moto X and the Moto G. We’ve already seen the Verizon variants of the new Moto X (Moto X+1) pictured above sporting an all black case and a white and bamboo combination. Today’s tip we received adds a little more credibility to the above images, at least from an outside shell standpoint.

Our source has provided us with this screenshot from Verizon’s computer system which clearly shows ‘the new Moto X’ coming in black, white/bamboo, and two Moto Maker variants coming in at 16GB and 32GB. As it stands now, the current Moto X is available in 16GB through Verizon Wireless as well as 16GB and 32GB versions purchased through Moto Maker. However, this wasn’t always the case. When the original Moto X launched last summer, the Moto Maker option was sadly a carrier exclusive for roughly the first three months. According to the above image, Moto Maker might just be available on Verizon Wireless from the beginning. Let’s hope that Verizon doesn’t have an exclusive this time around, no one likes carrier exclusives.

As for the name, our source says he keeps seeing ‘the new Moto X’ referenced on cases, rebate forms, and other internal documents instead of Moto X+1. Will the new Moto X launch under this name or will we still see Moto X+1 as the device’s moniker? It’s still too early to tell and things could change at the last minute. Either way, our own Kevin Krause will be attending Motorola’s event in just a few days and he’ll keep us all in the loop.

Who’s ready to customize their new Moto X through Motor Maker?

Thanks Mr. D!

  1. I just hope they offer a 64GB version as well. I’ll more than likely be switching to Verizon or AT&T in a few weeks, because where I got stationed has absolutely 0 coverage with Sprint (my current carrier) or T-Mobile. But alas, if this holds true, I might have to pick a different phone…
I like my onboard storage, but don’t want to have to resort to SD cards.

    1. I can’t see why they wouldn’t, considering it is now an option for the original Moto X.

      1. But the 64GB version isn’t available for Verizon. Or at least, not yet. But if not when the 64GB version first came out (only a month or so ago, if I’m not mistaken), when?

        1. Wow. Didn’t realize that. It’s not.

  2. I really want the Droid Turbo that has already leaked.

  3. Wake me up when the DE drops.

    1. Which will probably be right around the time that September ends.

    2. I’m sure it will come on Moto Maker just like the current Moto X DE. I’ll be buying that again too (current Moto X DE owner).

  4. I hope that is confirmation X+1 is not the name of the phone, because that was just terrible. I always thought that referred to a possible bundle with the 360.

    1. I think the “+1” is the earpiece they will announce on Thursday.

  5. 16gb is still an option? After software you only get like 12-13gb….with 2GB games and HD movies…I would think 32GB would be the norm.. No ?

    1. 16GB is still an option because there are still people(like me) who neither want nor need more storage than that on their phone.
      So no.

      1. Me too.

        1. I store everything in the cloud and also live in an area with horrible service coverage. When I drive to work daily, I have zero service. Google Play Music automatically has plenty of sounds for me to listen to (new songs daily too) on my 45 minute commute. 16GB works wonderfully for me. I don’t need more. It would be a waste of money.

          1. Wait a minute. Did you just write a contradiction? If you have horrible service, and you store everything in the cloud, how exactly are you streaming it reliably? Besides, since no one offers unlimited data plans (except for Sprint, if I’m not mistaken), wouldn’t it make sense to have the most local storage possible so that you could have the smallest data plan possible – and not keep paying those jokers (i.e., the carriers) a single red penny more than you have to?

          2. Not at all. I have zero service on my 45 minute drive to and from work as I said. I use Google Play Music daily to listen to music during my commute. Google Play Music automatically caches music for you to listen to offline, without you having to to do anything. My point is, that 16GB of storage is plenty for me to use for apps, games, and music without ever even worrying about storage.

I use Straight Talk on AT&T’s network. I use data when I need it and I’m on WiFi all day at work and all night at home.

        2. Re: Old OLD PEOPLE…Yeah, well, to each their own, right? And by the way, one day you too will be old, my friend.

    2. Every user is different. I have never used up a full 16GB ROM on a phone, even with the super-bloated TouchPizz on my Galaxy phones. I continue to keep my photos, videos, and music loaded on my memory card and leave the phone memory solely for apps.

      1. Indeed, every user is different.

What kills me on my 16GB S4 is the stuff I can’t move to SD — Comixology’s big HD comics files, Kindle books, Audible audiobooks, some kinds of games, things like that.

    3. I have 48GB used on my S4 right now. I guess I could delete some movies that I use on work trips, but I shouldn’t have to. The cost difference between 32 and 16 has to be minimal for manufacturers, and it certainly wouldn’t hurt consumers to have more than what they need. 32GB / 64GB should be standard IMO.

  6. Thanks goodness it doesn’t say Moto X+1, oh thank goodness, from Dumb and Dumber…

“So your telling me theres a chance!?”
