Meizu has officially launched their latest flagship smartphone — the Meizu MX4. The device is absolutely ridiculous in the specs department, and it doesn’t look too bad on the outside either. Here’s what you can look forward to should you buy the $300 wonder (currently available for pre-order from OppoMart):
- 5.36-inch 1920 x 1152 display
- 2.2GHz MediaTek MT6595 octo-core processor
- 20.7 megapixel rear Sony camera, 2.0 megapixel front Sony camera
- 2GB of RAM
- 16GB, 32GB or 64GB storage
- Android 4.4 KitKat with Flyme 4.0
- 3,100mAh battery
- 144 x 75.2 x 8.9mm, 147g
That doesn’t sound bad at all for $300, right? The phone is machined with an aluminum alloy material, and also has 2.36mm thin bezels — not quite edge-to-edge, but not so shabby, either.
Uortunately the device is already out of stock (not surprising at that price tag), but OppoMart is sure to be getting more in stock in due time. Meizu’s products might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but we wouldn’t be surprised if they won themselves a few new fans with this release. The MX4 is set to ship later this month, so let us know if you’ll be looking to purchase one in the near future.
looks a lot like the iPhone but i am not complaining. the thing looks sexy
Looks nice, but I’m not impressed.
It does scream iPhone lookalike but it looks very appealing because of the price tag. I want to know how flyme is though
Here’s a couple problems.
1. iOS knockoff
2. Chinese phone
3. No Google Play Store
4. No buy.
5. No good custom ROMS (CM)
6. No TWRP
7. Not a SAMOLED display
8. No SD slot
9. No American LTE support
10. We generally try to keep Chinese software off our phones, they even wrote the kernel on this one…

Well the NSA is spying on you either way though, this is just opening up another avenue… And as nefarious as the NSA is at least I am not worried about them stealing from me (In a way I will notice).

Definitely agree with every point but it being a Apple knock off, well lets just say I’m a diehard droid fan and user but you know as well as everyone else Apple design is dam near flawlessly beautiful year after year, they shoulda went with the look of the 5S IMHO
I prefer to be able to type one character at a time rather than having an iPhone. I can’t use a child-sized keyboard effectively.
lol i wasnt refering to the size of the phone, im talking about the design, lets be honest, the build quality and design of an iphone 5s the size of say a nexus 5 running android would give the M8 a run for its money in terms of pure style….and no this has nothing to do with the software
I really don’t like the iPhone design. Too square and unnatural for me. The m8 destroys it in my book, with its curved back making it feel razor thin. The iPhone has that right angle edge that just ruins it IMO.
easily add google play store. thought i seen article where LTE was available for US network.
Which carriers will this work on?
It won’t work with US carriers since they use a different LTE signal than the LTE in China.

It is a GSM based phone and will work with GSM carriers, just not on LTE.
Looks like a win to me:
1. Masterful use of Apple-inspired design. We can be confident they will have the same high-class in dealing with their customers as they do in dealing with intellectual property.
2. We know things are never too good to be true (case in point, the One Plus One, which delivered on all our high-hopes with its consistent build quality and timely shipping).
3. When I buy Chinese flashlights, the great lumens claims are always true, just like the mAh claims of this battery.
4. Even though this won’t be sold in retail stores within the US, I’m sure all their customer service is USA based, and they’re trained in USA customer satisfaction.
4. With a name like Meizu, which rhymes with kazoo (My favorite instrument), I’m sure this will be my favorite phone.
