Discuss the new phone at the LG G Flex 2 forums at AndroidForums.com!
Earlier today the LG G Flex 2 was officially announced at CES. This is LG’s sequel to the original curved phone from last year. The first LG G Flex was a very nice phone, and the G Flex 2 is even better. We got some hands-on time with the G Flex 2 below. Check it out.
The G FLex 2 will launch with Android 5.0 Lollipop on board. It has an improved KnockCode, faster “self-healing” back material, and quick charge. Other specs include a Snapdragon 810 processor, 5.5-inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, 13MP camera, and 3,000 mAh battery. The LG G Flex 2 will be available in South Korea later this month, but no time frame was given for the rest of the world.
Nice phone (Although wasn’t 2014 last week?)
2GB of RAM? Fail for 2015 flagship phones.
13MP camera? Fail for 2015 flagship phones.
There will be other flaghships throughout the year
Agreed.. but on first pass, this is not one worth buying. The purported HTC Hima or S6 could be though. We will see in the next day.
Z4 will be the bomb
You fail
How so?
The camera fail is on sensors with too many MP for their size (noise reduction is not infinite) behind a lens that cannot possibly resolve as many lines as the high-MP values would require. If you want better quality cell phone pictures, don’t increase MP, decrease the insane levels of jpeg compression going on.
The ram fail – that’s up to the user. I’d like to see less bloatware running and less ram required as a measure to save battery power. But that’s just me.
You will never see less bloatware. Fact of life for phones. As well, with all we do on phones today, 2gb is not enough to multitaskl, especially when the OS hogs so much. We started at 128, then 256 then 512 then 1gb then 2gb… 3gb should be standard for 2015 phones.
Yeah. The One M8 multitasks KitKat just fine with 2 GB ram. You can even root mod it and run window-on-window.

Ahh yes.. the poorly consider “does just fine” logic. Really?
If manufacturers kept this poor logic, we would still be on 1gb RAM. But they do not, why? Because 1-2gb hardly does it with todays needs and all we do at 1 time with our devices.
We started with 128. Then 256. Then 512. People said, “oh, 512 is fine”. Then we went to 1gb and people said, “oh 1gb is fine”. And then 2gb was adopted and people said, “oh 2gb is fine”. And then 3gb came out and people say that is cool. See the pattern? More RAM has no real downside and many upsides. And, you never progress if you always say, “oh, what I have is fine”. The goal is not what is fine about what you have TODAY. It is about moving forward. No, 2gb is not fine and not moving forward and not future progress.
Just ask Asus… 4gb baby and the HTC you say is fine on 2gb, let’s bet they bail on 2gb and move forward.. yeah, don’t take that bet.
You didn’t even watch the video.
I especially like your penchant for making up straw man arguments that you are able to amazingly win every time. Bravo! LOL
The truth is that 4 GB ram will draw twice the power as 2 GB of ram made from with the same manufacturing process technology.
Maybe you like bloat – perhaps that’s it. (See what I did there? What you did ok.)
And while there’s nothing wrong with more ram – other than wasting power if it’s not needed – it’s more about an arms race of spec numbers than performance.
64-bit processors – 25% faster than 32-bit – now available at clock speeds 25% slower than the 32-bit jobs.
What did you save? Battery? No – you’re driving more transistors.
But – you can address more ram – that you’re likely to find some need for with a 64-bit processor unless they find a way to dramatically decrease the instruction sizes.
Yeah – HTC and everyone else will eventually bail on low, efficient ram.
The market, as represented by your reality – wants more ram, and it’s going to be used just as responsibly as handing a bottle of whisky and the car keys to a 16 year old boy.
When you start demanding significantly longer battery life on 4G and a phone that lasts longer on standby, that’s what they’ll build you.
That would be an actual improvement.
So long as you play junior armchair designer and demand numbers of this and numbers of that – that’s exactly what you’ll get.
I’m not against improvement. Not at all.
I’m just against not being careful about what you wish for.
Have a good day, cheers! :)
And btw – don’t get all offended ok. I’m just playing devil’s advocate. ;)
meh iPhone bends way better than this
Looks like Lg improved on last years phone and that’s it. Nothing really mind blowing. In other words: I’ll pass!
There is a 3gb version as well…it comes with the 32gb storage phone.
Why are they using the first L preview soft keys instead of the final ones?
I’d never buy a smartphone from a company that also makes my toaster. It’s just not right. It’s like buying a car from a company that makes condoms.
Because buying an OS from a company that runs a search engine is also wrong.
Or apps hosted for it. Or music, video, books, magazines, devices. Or perhaps a selfdriving car.
Or a lens that detects diseases or smartglasses or a HDMI tv dongle…or a webbrowser….
Yes, horizontal integration is just soo bad…no company ever got that right. Ow wait you are telling me these are separate divisions who jsut share a brand name,…ahhh I see.
I guess you don;t own both a samsung phone and their TV or their washing machines or any of the thousands of electronics that they make….
And I bet Sony can only create TV’s …. a gameconsole? EPIC FAILURE written all over that. Microsoft must be nuts with their XBOX.
There you have it folks. Irrefutable evidence that the best console is Nintendo’s console.
EDIT:
Wait scrap that…Nintendo used to make cards. I guess the best console out there must be the OUYA
nice phone, i wonder if you can drop this from 5-6 feet without worrying about the screen shattering. if anybody knows, let me know
Last year’s model did have glass on the screen and yes it shattered.
LG watch out apple might sue you for the bend thing
Is it just me, or is that thing really slow and unresponsive?
Sure looked like it from the video. There was obvious lag scrolling.
Not trying to be facetious, but what are the real advantages of a curved phone? –No iPhone jokes please.
yeah thats crazy….wonder if its over heating like the G3 and just bogs down
Weird. Because the ones I played with were buttery smooth
I like the notifications peek but the hand gesture selfie already exists on g3 Chris
