While Motorola has a pretty good history with pushing out major firmware updates to their Moto phones (even those on Verizon), Android 5.0 Lollipop kinda messed the whole thing up. The initial release was plagued with some serious bugs that delayed the release and a short time after Android 5.0 hit the Motorola Moto X (2nd Gen) Pure Edition, we started seeing 5.01, and more recently 5.0.2, making the rounds.
Now that most of the kinks have been worked out, Motorola and other OEMs can resume getting Lollipop updates out for their devices. Just last night, Motorola announced that Android 5.0.2 would be rolling out to the Motorola Moto G 2nd Gen in the US, and both 1st and 2nd Gen models in India. If this is sounding like dejavu, back in December Lollipop soak tests began hitting the Moto G 2013, followed by the Moto G 2014 in January.
It took a few weeks, but now that testing has concluded, you can expect Lollipop — which is now rolling out in phases — to hit your devices in the coming days. Let’s hope they don’t find anymore bugs and delay the rollout further (knocks on wood).

Hopefully 5.1 is around the corner. I think rumor has it sometime in Feb.

Silent mode added after missing on Android 5.0
General improvements in system stability
Improved RAM management
Fixes for sudden app closures
Improved battery management
Excessive consumption of network devices when used Wi-Fi fixed
Issues with wireless connections fixed
Problems with Okay Google function solved
Notifications problems solved
Some sound problems experience by certain devices fixed
Other improvements and changes
Changes in the Material Design color palette (after users’ complaints, possibly for a higher version though)

What about the Moto G 2013 in the US?

So why have they not released Lollipop for gen 1 in the IS? It has the same processing hardware as the 2nd gen. There’s no technical reason!

Between Google Now Launcher and all the updated Google apps, KitKat looks pretty much like Lollipop already. The main thing I’m looking forward to is Trusted Places.
Our Moto G 2014 got Lollipop last week, and my Moto G 2013 LTE should get it shortly. Wait’s nearly over.
The new notification system is the big thing for me. Notifications on lockscreen. Phone call notifications not interrupting what you are doing in you’re phone.
I’ve had 5.0.2 on my US Moto G 2014 for bit, but my MMS function is broken. No matter what app I use, it’s a no go. I can’t even send/receive pics or any group messaging.
Anybody else having this issue?
