Sprint LG G3 owners better have their phones charged and be near a WiFi hotspot right now: Android 5.0 Lollipop is officially rolling out. Sprint mentioned that the update is going out over the air, but didn’t confirm its size, version number or whether this is a staggered process (it usually is). They did take care to highlight the benefits of updating:
- Material Design for fluid animation, multicolored themes and 3D views
- More efficient battery use
- Android™ TV support
- Notifications on the lock screen and customizable options with prioritized notifications for events, reminders, messages and calls
- Updated Lock Screen features allow users to quickly access notifications and active apps
- Enhanced low vision and color blind capabilities for added Accessibility
- Integrated location menu enables users to easily activate GPS, Wi-Fi and mobile networks, while simultaneously checking the battery usage of apps running location service capabilities
- Enhanced Messaging with Google Hangouts™ support for SMS and MMS and a larger assortment of updated Emoji icons
- Upgraded Google Mobile Service™ apps automatically back up photos and video and can open, view, rename and share Google Docs and files
We’ll be searching for more info about the upgrade, but in the meantime be sure to head to the Settings > About Phone menu on your phone if you’re looking to pull it down. Don’t forget to come back and let us know how you’re liking Lollipop once you’ve installed it.

I am impatient…..anywhere to download this yet?
Yup get ready for it to screw up your phone. I am going to try and not install it Until after I have read users comments on it.
Definitely smart move
A/s/l?
No update available as of right now.
Yea they said there doing waves of the update I am not sure what that means but I know I am checking every 5 mins for it lol
Oh is there an option not to update. I want to want to wait and read users comments on it before I download it. Right now I have crappy battery life. 5 hours max under normal use Versus my lg flex which lasts me at least 10 to 12 hours. That is with normal use. So is the Lollipop update going to be an option to download or will it be shoved down my throat and force me to download it. If it is forced fed I have not option by to root. I can revert back to kitkat. Or sell the my G3 and get a flex again. LG and Sprints call. What do they want me to do
what’s your average SOT? Do you game often?
Yea screen on time it’s the main thing that kills battery, I find I get 3-4 hours under normal conditions with 16-26 standby, if I stretch I can get 5hours sot 40hours standby
Yeah i was just trying to get an idea on what was normal use for him. Highest SOT i’ve ever cracked was 4.5 hours, usually my battery dies whenever i get to 4 hours SOT no matter how long my standby is, whether it’s 8 hours or 30 hours.
But i also don’t game at all. So if he games i could see his battery probably getting closer to 2.5-3 hours SOT. Gaming drains battery like a mofo.
I get 4 to 5 hours on average, pretty decent battery life for an average days use for me. Just ordered a couple replacement battery’s for the hell of it.
No not on my phone. But my sot is max 5 hours. That is not compared my old flex. 10 to 12 hours.
Still no update? What century are they going to roll this out? They are almost as bad as Verizon with HTC updates.
How long is this staggered release because I still haven’t received it?
