LG reveals the Wine Smart, a Lollipop flip phone

It may be funny to see a flip phone in 2015, but the form factor is actually all the rage over in Asia, especially in South Korea. That’s why it makes sense that LG would make the Wine Smart. This is a continuation of a smart flip phone line they began last year.

This thing runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, though obviously in much different form. The phone houses your typical alphanumeric pad for dialing and texting, with additional buttons for back, home, multi-tasking, and quick access to email, camera, contacts and favorites. We’ve even got Place and End Call buttons for those into that sort of thing.

The device sports a 3.2-inch HVGA display, which is quite small so don’t expect it to be some multimedia beast. Still, it should be enough to provide a decent mobile experience. Here’s what’s going on inside:

  • Chipset: 1.1GHz Quad-Core
  • Display: 3.2-inch HVGA (480 x 320)
  • Memory: 4GB ROM / 1GB RAM / MicroSD
  • Camera: Rear 3MP / Front VGA
  • Battery: 1,700mAh (removable)
  • Operating System: Android 5.1.1 Lollipop
  • Size: 117.7 x 58.7 x 16.6mm
  • Weight: 143g
  • Network: 4G LTE / HSPA+ 42Mbps (3G)
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi 802.11 b, g, n / Bluetooth 4.1 / USB 2.0
  • Colors: Burgundy / Navy

LG says pricing and availability information will be revealed closer to launch, though we aren’t getting our hopes up that this will make a stretch far outside of Asia.
