By When reading about sleek, slim and metallic notebooks, you don’t think about a $300 price tag. Acer wants to change the way you think. Their new 14-inch Chromebook comes in at just $299 for the most expensive model. It’s a 100% aluminum chassis that could contend with a Macbook air in the looks department.
The Chrome OS device uses an Intel Celeron N3060, a dual-core Braswell chipset, for processing power. Lesser models (the prices of which are not yet known) will sport a 1,366 x 768 resolution, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage, but the $299 model is flaunting a full 1080p IPS display, 4GB of RAM and as much as 32GB of storage.
Elsewhere, the two are similar: WiFi AC, Bluetooth 4.2, dual USB 3.1 ports, a 720p webcam, and HDMI port and stereo speakers all come together nicely. It doesn’t sound bad for $300, and you can pre-order one from Amazon right now if you’re interested.
