Christmas is a bit early for HTC One M9 owners. The handset is getting Android 7.0 Nougat today, with HTC’s USA Twitter account signaling the start of the rollout.
As HTC was quick to point out, this update is only going out to unlocked variants in the US right now, which was the same deal that HTC 10 owners had when its update arrived a couple of weeks ago. Those with carrier models are being asked to wait until some point next year, likely due to carrier jostling.
In any case, HTC is able to say that they started offering Nougat in a timely manner somewhere. Be on the lookout for it to hit your phone (we’re not yet sure on version numbers and file sizes). While you wait, be sure to read up on all the cool new things coming with Nougat.
