When the LG G6 was announced, it took some by surprise (if you didn’t pay attention to the leaks) as there was an all new display. Instead of opting for the traditional 16:9 screen ratio, LG packed the 5.7-inch display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 (or 2:1).
However, the problem with this is that many apps don’t take advantage of the entire display. This forced LG to implement software tools to help you adjust how much room each app uses with a built-in compatibility mode.
Luckily, there is some good news as LG has announced that around 100 apps will be updated with support for the G6’s aspect ratio. Of course, there is a catch with this as these apps will be added to LG’s own app store, LG SmartWorld.
It’s unknown what kind of apps or content will be published, but we’ll be sure to follow up once that information is known.
