Alright, so you’ve already heard all about the Essential Phone and how it’s coming to Sprint stores and Amazon in the coming days, but the device has had a less-than-stellar launch. You’ve likely already seen the various videos showing off the mediocre camera performance, and general interface performance, but Essential has been on the case.
The company has released a few updates already for the PH-1, and has just pushed another one today. This update may be one of the biggest ones so far, as it promises to improve performance as a whole, while also including the September Android security patch, which just started rolling out to Pixel devices this week.
According to our friends over at Droid Life, the update has already improved scrolling in apps and settings, stating that the experience is “far less jittery”. Meanwhile, touch responsive has also been improved, making for a smooth experience across the board. Hopefully there are some subtle camera improvements too, but we’ll have to wait before we know for sure.
This is a pretty substantial software update, weighing in at 175MB, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a “Day One” update available once the Essential Phone gets into the hands of more users.
