Verizon was said to be the exclusive carrier of this device over here in the states (with their offering being named the LG Ally), but now a world-compatible GSM version is on its way. There’s nothing different from this version compared to what the Ally offers: 512MB ROM, 256MB of RAM, a 600MHz Qualcomm processor, 5-megapixel (with LED flash), a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, and a slideout QWERTY keyboard.
It’ll be coming with Android 2.1 and LG’s custom skin on top of it and will have native DivX and XviD support. WiFi up to N, GPS, Bluetooth, and FM Radio are also unsurprisingly included. We can’t seem to find a pocket full of information regarding where the device will eventually end up, but LG’s expected to make an announcement sometime soon.
crap, if they sell for free, might get some customers. why cant LG come up with better looking phones
Tell me when the Evo or Droid X goes GSM. Why can’t all phones go GSM..? O_O
GSM=trash
@Wakaflocka
Your mom=trash
My mom=drug addict actually so f*** you
GSM is personally, the only way for me. When I go boating, I pull my SIM from my $450 phone & put it in a $50 phone just in case it gets water damage. My mom has VZW & was on vaca out of state when her charging port on her phone stopped working. Even though, we went out & bought her a temporary VZW prepaid phone to get her by & VZW wouldn’t allow her to use it on her postcard plan because the temp phone was locked in by their network as prepaid & were told that it could never be utilized as anything other. One of the many reasons why I’ll always be GSM.
Postpaid* plan.
Yea but with Verizon if your phone gets wet asurion will send you a refurb
Androidess, I have to agree with you in that plus I enjoy having the ability to switch to a different phone anytime I like by merely removing the back cover. Asurion is fine but on phones this expensive, one could easily max out at 2 claims a year and I’m not huge on refurbished phones.
Biggest feature is ease of use internationally!
if I am not mistaken, the new Samsung Epic (or pro) will have a SIM slot so that it can be used as a world phone even though it’s on Sprint (CDMA)
