0

The standout announcement of the event today was the OnePlus 7 Pro, which the company is positioning as the flagship offering of 2019. However, there was also a regular OnePlus 7 unveiled, which isn’t coming to the U.S, that is essentially an updated OnePlus 6T. With a lower price and reduced specs, the OnePlus 7 is a more affordable option over the higher priced Pro model.

The OnePlus 7 is the device for those who skipped the OnePlus 6T and want an incremental update without the higher price tag. The updated device is an incremental upgrade over its predecessor with much of the same exterior with refreshed internals, but what exactly are the differences between the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro?

The OnePlus 7 Pro has a larger screen at 6.67-inches over the 6.41-inches of the OnePlus 7. You’ll get 1440 x 3120 resolution with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 516 pixels-per-inch offering 88.1% screen-to-body ratio compared to the 1080 x 2340 resolution with 19.5:9 aspect ratio with 402 pixels-per-inch and 85.5% screen-to-body ratio on the OnePlus 7.

Both devices feature a Snapdragon 855 processor and Adreno 640 GPU. The Pro model is available with 6GB RAM with 128GB of storage, or 256GB of storage with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM whereas the regular model comes with either 6GB of RAM with 128GB of storage or 256GB with 8GB.

The OnePlus 7 Pro features a brand new triple camera array that has helped the device earn one of the top ranks of the camera rankings with DxOMark. The triple camera has a 48-megapixel f/1.6 OIS lens with a 16-megapixel f/2.2 ultrawide lens paired with an 8-megapixel f2/.4 OIS 3x telephoto zoom lens. This is compared to the 48-megapixel primary sensor on the OnePlus 7 that is paired with a 5-megapixel depth sensor on the rear. Both devices feature a 16-megapixel f/2.0 front-facing camera with the only difference being the Pro model houses the module in a motorized pop-up mechanism.

You’ll get a bigger battery in the OnePlus 7 Pro at 4000mAh battery with 30W fast-charging compared to the smaller 3700mAh battery with 20W fast-charging in the regular model. Both devices also get an optical fingerprint sensor under the display.

The OnePlus 7 starts at £499 and will be available in June while the OnePlus 7 Pro starts at $669 or £649 available exclusively through T-Mobile in the U.S.
