Sony has always known that mobile gaming would be a big thing. The company even tried to capitalize on that way back in the day with devices like the Sony Xperia Play. They also know that our mobile devices would be very important to us, which has prompted them to launch a feature known as the PS4 Remote Play a few years ago.
The feature was an exclusive to Sony’s smartphones, but if you own a PS4 console and a non-Sony phone, you’ll be pleased to learn that the exclusivity has since ended and that PS4 Remote Play will now be available for all Android devices. There are certain requirements, one of which is that the device you’re streaming to needs to run on Android 5.0 Lollipop or higher, but other than that, you should be good to go.
For those who are unfamiliar, PS4 Remote Play, as its name suggests, is a feature that lets users stream games from their PS4 console to their smartphone. This is slightly different from Sony’s PlayStation Now streaming service where it streams from Sony’s servers to your console/PC and you will need a PS4 to take advantage of it.
Gamers who wish to connect their DualShock 4 controllers to their phones will also be able to do so, but Sony notes that it will require that gamers have a device running on at least Android 10.
