Looks like some prototype devices broke out of their holding cells and made their way onto Craigslist. Remember that QWERTY handset we saw pass the FCC not too long ago that many were heralding as the AT&T Tilt with Android? While we haven’t heard anything about that since then, the device has seemingly popped back up for sale, but probably not where HTC might’ve liked it.
We’re not sure how the phone – now being called the “HTC Paradise” – managed to get into the careless hands of whoever’s offering this for sale. Could HTC have cancelled the phone to make room for the Aria instead? (The lack of a keyboard would suggest as much seeing as the Aria looks nearly the exact same, sans that.) Who knows, but whoever’s selling this device isn’t too worried about any ramifications that might come with it.
The second device appears to be a prototype of the aforementioned HTC Aria – some are dubbing it the HTC Fiesta, though. It has a vastly different exterior, but the appearance suggests that this phone was probably used for testing and nothing more. (The fact that its craigslist listing is over 4 months old would suggest as much, as well.) What do you guys think?

Pretty sure this news hit the android community yesterday…
@Eric this news was reported later than our “usual” reporting time. If we miss news during that time, we won’t ignore it. What if HTC announced a 1.5GHz dual-core 4.3-inch phone with a slideout QWERTY and the most capable GPU you’ve ever seen? Would we pass it up simply because the news was out yesterday and not today?
I’m so tired of bitchy commenters on here… you don’t like the story or you “read it elsewhere” go somewhere else with your negative crap. Some people use this site as their source for android news and don’t goto all the sites every 20 minutes to get the latest. If you ask me something less then 24hours old is still new news…
…yes I know i’m making a bitchy comment about bitchy commenters. :)
As for the story, quite odd. Any news if HTC did anything about this or just let it go? Could you even use one of these on AT&T if you obtained one?
nice keyboard
Considering what some people do with their phones…there’s no way I’d ever want to buy one used on craigslist.
I’m getting very sick and tired of AT&T getting shitty ANDROID phones for their service. My upgrade is available on the 16th if I don’t see any good decent ANDROID phones I’m leaving AT&T for good. Still not a good single 1GHZ phone except the Captivate which I’m not getting cause it doesn’t even have flash on it.
Are we even sure this isn’t one of those Chinese knockoffs? Who would buy a phone off Craigslist anyway? I’ve seen $200 phones for sale for $600 there. I don’t think Craigslist is where I would go for technology.
@jjfnight s80 the captivate has flash lite as it is. no 2.1 phone has flash that only comes with froyo, which the captivate is getting
@Ian I think he meant flash in the camera
@JJNIGHTS80
The Captivate is an _excellent_ phone, even without the flash. It takes amazing photos and video (for a phone). It doesn’t do too bad in low-light situations, but I have never cared about that scenario anyway. If I want to take photos in the dark I would use a real camera. You should definitely play with the phone, if you haven’t already.
@JJNIGHTS80 – Magenta is waiting for you. :)
@SirWally, not everyone wants to carry around a camera with them at all times. That’s the point off having a camera on your phone to begin with.
Then how you expect to take pictures at night or when it’s dark when your at a bar with friends or a city something like that? pictures just be too dark to take a picture with.
