Things have been rather quiet in the Honor camp, as the company hasn’t really released or announced anything new in the last few months. The last we heard, the company launched the new Honor MagicBook Pro laptop, which features a 16.1-inch display along with Intel’s 10th-gen chipset. While the laptop looks sleek and sports a gorgeous display, the chipset is a bit outdated as Intel’s 11th-gen chipset is now available.
That’s all changed with the announcement of the all-new Honor MagicBook series of laptops. The MagicBook lineup consists of both a 14-inch and 15-inch model, sporting Intel’s 11th generation processors, starting with the i5-1135G7 and going up to the i7-1165G7. Moving to the 11th-gen chipset introduces not only a speed and performance boost over the 10th-gen SoCs, but also has the added benefit of Intel’s dedicated Irix X graphics. This won’t completely replace having a traditional GPU, but it will get the job done for most, even if you want to do some gaming.
Other than the size of the display, the specs for both the 14 and 15-inch models are practically identical. Screen resolution comes in at 1920 x 1080 while sporting a 16:9 aspect ratio, up to 300 nits of brightness, and a 1000:1 contrast ratio. Both versions sport 16GB of RAM paired with a 512GB NVMe SSD for fast storage speeds, and there are plenty of ports to choose from.
You’ll find an HDMI port, USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, USB 2.0 port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and even a fingerprint power button. Bluetooth 5.1 is on board to ensure that all of your peripherals will pair quite nicely, and will reliably stay connected to the laptops.
When it comes to battery life, the MagicBook 14 actually has the upper hand with its 56 Wh rated battery along with a 65W fast charger. Honor claims you’ll get up to about 44% from 0% after charging for just 30 minutes while rating this battery for up to 10.5 hours on a single charge. As for the MagicBook 15, it features a 42 Wh battery with the same 65W fast charger in the box. Going from 0% to 53% will take about 30 minutes, but the battery is only rated for up to 7.6 hours before you’ll need to reach for your charger.
Both models sport a pop-up camera so you can jump on those annoying Zoom calls, along with featuring a full-sized backlit keyboard. And if you do plan on playing any games or doing some more graphics-intensive work with the MagicBook, Honor has integrated a dual-heat pipe cooling system with a “supersized” cooling fan.
Both the MagicBook 14 and MagicBook 15 are available starting today in the UK, German, and France. Pricing for the MagicBook 14 starts at 849.90€ for the Intel i5 variant and goes up to 1199.90€ for the Intel Core i7 model. As for the MagicBook 15, you only have one processor option to choose from with the Intel Core i5-1135G7, but it will be available in the same countries for 949.90€.
