If you’ve ever gone to the gym, you might have used a machine that measures your body composition to tell you how many percent your body is composed of fat, muscle, water, bone density, and so on. It’s a pretty good way of checking up on your fitness because weight alone doesn’t always tell you about your fitness.
Interestingly enough, if a tweet by Max Weinbach is accurate, it seems that this is a feature we can expect from the upcoming Galaxy Watch 4 from Samsung. Weinbach claims that with the Galaxy Watch 4, Samsung will introduce a BIA (Bio-Electrical Impedance Analysis) sensor to the watch, which for those unfamiliar is the tech that powers the body composition machine at your gym.
Galaxy Watch4. BIA sensor.

So what does this mean for the Galaxy Watch 4? For those who want to keep track of their weight and progress, having a BIA sensor could be helpful. For example, like we said weight doesn’t always tell the whole story. You could weigh 90kg but if you have a body fat percentage of 30%, it’s obviously not as healthy compared to someone who has the same weight but has a body fat percentage of 15%.
It could be useful for people who are trying to achieve a particular goal with their fitness, whether it be weight loss, muscle gain, and so on. It would actually be a pretty cool feature to have if the rumors are true, so we’ll have to wait until next week for the details.
