Google Pay now lets you use your balance with a virtual card

0

It’s been a busy year for Google Pay, as the app received a major overhaul earlier in the year. But now that the rollout of the new version has been completed, Google is now at the point where it’s adding new and useful features.

A new feature is rolling out to Google Pay users in the U.S. that allows you to use a virtual card with your Google Pay balance. If you’re someone who uses Google Pay to send money back and forth between friends like Venmo, you don’t have to transfer and wait for the funds to be added to your traditional bank account. Instead, the Google Pay app will provide a virtual card that can be used with NFC readers for in-store payments.

The great thing about this is that you won’t have to wait for the money to be transferred from Pay to your bank account any longer. Just request access to the virtual card, make sure you have NFC and mobile payments enabled, and then use your phone to pay just like you normally would.

However, this isn’t just something that is available for everyone from the jump. Instead, you’ll need to manually request that the virtual card be provided from within Google Pay. According to 9to5Google, the option is coming to the U.S. now, and “will be available to ‘all’ Android users soon”.
