The Realme Flash with MagDart could provide 80W wireless charging speeds

Next week, Realme is expected to debut its next smartphone with the Realme Flash. And while it’s going to offer a flagship-level experience in the spec department, that won’t be the defining feature of Realme’s next handset. Instead, the company is expected to debut its “MagDart” technology, which provides magnetic wireless charging similar to that of Apple’s MagSafe on the iPhone 12.

As we get closer to Tuesday’s announcement, Realme CEO Madhav Sheth, continued teasing the upcoming technology. In one of his latest tweets, Sheth reveals that MagDart will charge up to 440% faster while also being thinner. He doesn’t exactly come out and compare it to Apple’s MagSafe, instead leaving everyone to assume that’s what MagDart is being compared to.

In the past week, we’ve seen a few rumors and leaks point to Realme unveiling two different MagDart chargers. One of which would match up against the current MagSafe puck, offering a thin and lightweight design. The other, as provided by GSMArena is quite a bit larger and includes a built-in fan, likely to keep your phone cool while charging.

While we don’t know the exact charging speeds of these two MagDart chargers, it’s safe to assume that the slim version will max out at around 15W. Meanwhile, based on these claims by Realme’s CEO, we can surmise that the MagDart charging system could offer around 80W of charging power.

To date, this would be the fastest wireless charging speed available on a smartphone. The OnePlus 9 Pro maxes out at 50W, while the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is capped at 67W. Rumors point to Xiaomi pushing the limits even further in the near future, but for the time being, Realme would grab plenty of headlines.

Other rumored specs for the Realme Flash claim the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC and paired with up to 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage. We’re just a few days away from the event, but this has us excited for the first true MagSafe competitor on Android.
