A launch wouldn’t be a launch without Best Buy getting in on the early pre-order fun. Just a day after T-Mobile officially announced the device would be offered through their own channels for pre-order soon, Best Buy’s stepped in to 1-up them (as they often do any carrier): starting from today, you can pre-order the T-Mobile G2 for $199.99 on a two-year contract. Wait, why are you still here? You should’ve been on your way to Best Buy as soon as you read the title!
[via Best Buy]
Considering changing companies for this. I love Sprint, but I hate touchwiz so much. We need more stock Android phones.
I thought T-Mobile said existing customers were going to be able to order theirs earlier than the General Public?? WTF???
I think that T-Mobile will ship out their phones before Best Buy does theirs. T-Mobile keeps saying that existing customers will be the first to have the phone. Don’t buy it at Best Buy!!! I’m pretty sure you’ll regret it.
Where can i find the full spec sheet of this phone?
I just want to know how much it costs without a two yeat contract
Yeah….I signed up for the “Keep Me In The Loop” twice, and yet to receive anything form T Mobile….So much for customer loyalty.
Part II – I hate Best Buy
if you get it at best buy you’d miss out on the “bogo” (BuyOneGetOne) that tmobile is doing … right?? the bogo deal is going on now through october… so why wouldnt you wait till tmo drops the phone.. unless you dont have more than one line i guess…
would love to know the answer to that question 2 tony. An is there a full spec sheet like rom memory an screen type ie amoled.
“The T-Mobile G2 with Google will be available in the U.S. exclusively from T-Mobile, and current T-Mobile customers will have the opportunity to preorder the G2 in limited quantities later this month..”
I signed up to be notified THREE times and I have to go to BestBuy to pre-order it?!
FCK YOU BEST BUY, if you’re reading this, aholes!
WTF T-MOBILE!?! Explain!
sorry guys, i just need to get this out of my system.
Does the pre-order version come with a faster CPU? One that is capable of running Gingerbread?
no need to apologize androidtoy i feel the same way about t-mobile but all i can do is stay bent over while they do their thing still waiting to get out of 1.6 but t-mobile is a company of lies get used to it
Who needs the keyboard with speech recognition build in? Give me one of those without a keyboard and I’ll sell my N1 :)
The G2 will run Gingerbread, El Guapo. It does NOT have to be 1ghz or better. Google already stated that. That story come from some russian blog and wasn’t true.
I can’t wait to see a side by side review of this vs. the nexus.
i’ll pass gas! this phone isnt for me so meh!
looks like the replacement for my Hero…. :o)
Everyone needs to calm down… T-Mo said that existing customers would have exclusive pre-ordering through them. They can’t stop Best Buy from doing their own pre-order any other way than just not sending Best Buy enough units to sell to everyone.
In the world of 800 lb gorillas, Best Buy is 900 lbs to T-Mo’s 700.
My best buy doesn’t even carry t-mobile.
I am interested in the higher speed 3G that this will give over AT&T.
It it worth bailing from a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate for this?
As much as I want one AND as much as I love Best Buy, I wouldn’t from Best Buy… If it’s general electronics, they’re my first stop, but for anything “exclusive” like a phone to a carrier, get it from the carrier. 9 times out of 10, the 3rd party guys like Best Buy botch the interaction. Not to mention, you usually need your FULL upgrade discount after your contract’s up to get the advertised prices.
Honestly, Best Buy… You can’t beat T-Mobile to the punch if they’re offering it to existing customers first, nor guarantee that price. I just upgraded 9 months ago, and I sure know I’m not getting ANOTHER $300 discount this soon, regardless of what you say; we get like $200-300 off every 2 years.
Called BestBuy in the Seattle area and when I asked “can I pre-order the G2 at Best Buy”, I was told NO.
Interesting…
I’m just still not convinced I’ll like the hinging flop-out keyboard… Would rather it be slide-out… Will have to check one out when the demos hit the T-Mo stores…
ugly. i’m done with htc. loving my droid x.
Man do I miss G1s keyboard….looking at this ones…well it looks like it sucks…as does the phone…to me
I think they should have just made the G2 a better bigger G1…with the same keyboard but bigger…seems like it would have made sense
None of the best buys in my area have T-Mobile.
I don’t get why the overall aesthetics of this phone turn people away from wanting it. Of course, that would explain the popularity of the i Phone.
Will this phone match or out perform the samsung galaxy s phones withheld adreno 205 with he lag fix on the galaxy s? Or are the benchmark results posted earlier for a stock galaxy phone?
Are the full specs. available yet? I heard on one of the android podcasts state that unlike the vibrant it is not a world phone. That would be a showstopper if it only works in the US. Even the mytouch slide is a world phone and I’m actually pretty happy with it for now.
IF YOU CAN UPGRADE GO TO RADIO SHACK THEIR OFFERING IT FOR $$$150 WITH 2YR UPGRADE!!!
I’ve been looking around to upgrade this boring dull out dated G1. I was leaning towards the Droid X but I’m really not a droid head and I love androids and was considering the galaxy s after I seen it in person and it’s a nice phone, but after visiting tmob site I somewhat leaning towards the G2 but doing some research on the phone it’s alot of different views far as the european vision and the US version. I just hope it lives up to the hype and is really worth a 2 year contract which I don’t have. A bigger view at 3.7 good…faster good….flash with adobe flash support good….keypad not impress…the rest of the specs interesting but I have to see it in person.
