Reliability from Sprint 3G
Samsung Galaxy Tab will operate on the Sprint 3G network and customers can be confident in their ability to stay connected. According to the results of a 13-city test conducted by PC World on 3G performance, no one has a more reliable network than Sprint. For the second consecutive year, Sprint’s reliability rates were second-to-none.
PC World’s test involved Sprint, AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile in 13 major cities in all regions of the country during December 2009 and January 2010. In all, roughly 9,000 individual tests of Sprint’s 3G service were conducted from 280 testing locations. Testing sessions were one minute in duration per location, and network performance can be highly variable from neighborhood to neighborhood. In laptop-based tests, Sprint tied with another carrier for first in 3G network reliability.
With the Sprint Free Guarantee, customers can take advantage of Samsung Galaxy Tab for 30 days. If not completely satisfied, customers may return the device within 30 days to get reimbursed for the device purchase and activation fee, get both the early termination and restocking fees waived, and receive a full refund for the monthly service plan charges.2
A Sprint developer guide for Samsung Galaxy Tab will be available on the Sprint Application Developer Web site when the device launches. The developer guide will provide details for an Android 2.2 tablet and how to take advantage of Samsung Galaxy Tab’s unique hardware and software capabilities on the Sprint network. In addition, session leaders will cover tablet development at the Sprint Developer Conference during the Android breakout sessions. The Sprint Developer Conference is Oct. 26-28 in Santa Clara, Calif. Developers can register for the conference at http://developer.sprint.com/devcon2010.
Props to Sprint who also took the press release as an opportunity to talk to developers about creating apps for the Samsung Galaxy Tab. They discussed how its a unique environment that can be leveraged with the right approach, and I hope devs use the 7-inch screen to their full ability!
The Android Tablet party won’t really start until HTC and Motorolla both have one. And they should stop making them smaller. Put the galaxy and the Droid X next to each other and they both look ridiculous. A tablet should be the size and thickness of a magazine. Period.
AT&T did leave off the front camera.
Can you say FAIL?
whewwwwwww! this is very good. FFC for everyone !!
well atleast for everyone except for at&t customers. haahaa(in the nelson voice)!!!!

And this device is used for?
REC… i dont even know since all those features are on our phones except the obvious ffc. i guess this good for people that dont have laptops. i guess
And for those of us on Sprint who already have an EVO or and EPIC, we already have the FFC, and 4G. What do we need another contract for? With the WiFi only version we can connect to our phone hotspot when mobile. I already have the phone and the laptop, this tablet has very limited use. I certainly don’t want a 7″ phone and I don’t need another phone line.
We have three of those carriers here (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile), should be intersting to see all the models when they come out.
Samsung + Android = Good HW & CRAP software. I am sorely disappointed in my Galaxy phones SW. I can’t imagine them doing this right at all. AVOID!
What @MVTom said.
I am thinking about keeping my Verizon Phone, with its Voice only Contract, and getting the Tab on the Carrier with the best Price and Data Plan, and then getting Skype … use it free for 30 Days … and if it works as an ‘All-in-One’ Tablet/Phone (like it is in the rest of the World) … cancel my Verizon Contract, and be Data Only on my new Data Carrier … I may pay less, to get more!!!
instead of skype.. use google voice. through your data you can go on your gmail and make calls for free their.
@chris93036 I tried that using my phone, but it stalled and did not do anything. it was stuck trying to place the call. Does this only work on PCs?
@Chris93036 I tried to do that using my phone but it didn’t work. It just said “this might take a few seconds” but never placed the call. Does this only work on PCs or something?
Whoops, thought it didnt go through. Must have forgotten to refresh.
NO PHONE NO DEAL… US version different than Euro model. WHY???? Att has no front camera… WHY??? Samsung’s decision or the fat phone company’s??? Don’t need another EXPENSIVE toy… Would have used the voice option as phone with my bluetooth… I won’t be getting this for the holidays… Maybe Dell or Htc will put out what the consumers really need…
