Battery life on smartphones is still a bit contentious. We suppose many of us are still hoping that one day we’d get back to the good old days of feature phones that could last for days without needing a recharge, but for the most part, that hasn’t happened yet. In fact, if you were looking forward to the Galaxy S22, prepare to be disappointed.
This is because according to a photo of a Samsung battery with the model number EB-BS901ABY has been spotted at the South Korean certification agency where it has a rated capacity of 3,900mAh, and its typical capacity is 3,700mAh. This is actually 300mAh less than the 4,000mAh battery that came with the Galaxy S21.
Now, there is a chance that this might not make that much of a difference in battery life. Earlier rumors have suggested that Samsung might actually shrink the display size of the Galaxy S22 from 6.2-inches to 6.06-inches. It is also possible that the phone could be powered by the Exynos 2200 and/or Snapdragon 898 which we imagine should be more energy efficient, so that could make up for the smaller battery.
This means that in the best case scenario, we would end up with a phone whose battery life is the same as the Galaxy S21, or in the worst case it could end up with a shorter battery life.
That being said, how much battery life you get from a phone depends on how you use it. If you’re going to play games on it all day or watch videos, you’ll probably notice the difference more compared to users who don’t do as much, but either way we’ll have to wait for Samsung’s announcement next year for the details.
