Honor 60 and Honor 60 Pro announced with upgraded cameras and faster charging

Honor has been making waves as it continues to push its way back into the limelight after being left behind Huawei’s smartphone ban. Now that the company is independent, we’ve seen a few different devices launched, and Honor’s back with another series of smartphones. The Honor 60 was announced at an event earlier today, bringing slight design changes and some improved specs over its predecessor.

Surprisingly, we only have two new devices to talk about, with the Honor 60 and the Honor 60 Pro. Starting off with the standard version, the Honor 60 sports a 6.67-inch curved OLED display complete with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10 certification.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G powers the Honor 60, the same chipset found in the Honor 50 series. This has been paired with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of onboard storage. Unfortunately, you won’t find a microSD card slot this time around, so you won’t be able to add more storage later.

On the back of the phone, the Honor 60 sports a triple camera array headlined by a 108MP primary sensor. This is joined be an 8MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP depth sensor. And for selfies, Honor has packed in a 32MP camera into the hole-punch cutout.

Battery life is pretty solid, as both the Honor 60 and 60 Pro feature a 4,800mAh capacity. This may not seem like too much, but coupled with Honor’s 66W fast wired charging, and you’ll be able to go from 0-50% in about 15 minutes.

As for the Honor 60 Pro, the phone uses a larger 6.78-inch OLED curved display, complete with HDR10+ certification and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Pro model also gets a bump in the processor department, as it is the first phone to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G+, offering faster clock speeds and up to 20% better performance.

Both phones share the 108MP primary lens and 2MP depth sensor, but the 60 Pro gets an upgraded ultrawide camera thanks to the use of a 50MP sensor. Thanks to the inclusion of autofocus, this also means that the ultrawide camera can double as a macro lens, similar to what we’ve seen from other recently-released smartphones.

When it comes to pricing and availability, the Honor 60 starts for ~$425 (CNY 2,700) for the 8GB / 128GB model. Meanwhile, the Honor 60 Pro starts at ~$580 (CNY 3,700) with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The devices are both currently available for pre-order in China, but Honor stopped short of providing any information in regards to a potential global launch. If the Honor 50 launch is anything to go by, we’ll have to wait a little while to get our hands on this one.
