EKSA’s E3Z Air Joy Plus headphones prove gaming accessories can be affordable

0

Gaming gear usually gets a bad rep for being expensive. This is because once you slap the gaming tag onto an accessory or even a computer, for some reason it commands a much more premium price tag, and more often than not, a lot of these accessories aren’t too different from regular non-gaming accessories.

Plus, for the most part, unless you’re a professional gamer who can tell the difference between a 10,000 DPI mouse and a 12,000 DPI mouse, it all kind of feels the same in the end. That being said, we can understand the appeal of these products and accessories because it fits right into the “gamer” aesthetic, but if you don’t want to pay through your nose, you’re in luck.

This is because EKSA has a pair of gaming headphones that only costs $36, which is a downright steal when you consider other alternatives that could cost twice, or even three times as much, but is it worth it? Let’s take a look.

Design

On the surface, the E3Z Air Joy Plus features a pretty simple design. It has a matte finish that’s clean, and before you think it’s a bit understated, it features a grill cutout on each earcup that has some LED lights shining through. We can actually appreciate the fact that the LEDs are kind of being downplayed because too many LEDs can make it look tacky.

Plus, if you’re the type that loves bringing their headphones outside with them, whether you’re at school or commuting, not having something that screams “Check out my headphones!” is something we can truly appreciate.

The headphones are wired but the good news is that it comes with a detachable USB-C cable, so if the cable’s connection gets loose or the cable frays, it’ll be a much easier job to replace them rather than a pair of headphones with built-in cables, plus you don’t have to worry about it running out of battery at the most inconvenient of times.

Speaking of cables, since the E3Z Air Joy Plus uses a USB-C cable, it also means that it will be widely compatible with a variety of gadgets, such as smartphones, tablets, computers, and consoles, so moving the headphones around your devices will be quick and easy.

Sound & Comfort

For gamers who tend to play games for hours on end, obviously comfort is key. The E3Z Air Joy Plus headphones come with a pair of padded cushions for its earcups and have been designed to be extra-large so that it won’t put pressure on your ears which can result in fatigue. Plus, there is padding placed into the headband itself, and combine that with the fact that it only weighs 204g, it will feel like you’re not even wearing headphones at all!

Once again, this is ideal not just for gaming at home, but if you game on the go or want to use them as regular headphones because their lightweight design means it will be easy to bring them out with you.

As for the sound, the E3Z Air Joy Plus headphones offer a sensitivity of 92±3dB, a frequency range of 20Hz-20KHz, an impedance of 32Ω+15%, and sport 40mm drivers. There is even support for 7.1 surround sound, important in competitive gaming where you need to be aware of your surroundings at all times.

The headphones also come with a built-in microphone so that you can chat with your teammates, trash talk the enemy team, or simply use it for voice or video calls if you prefer. The microphone’s arm is adjustable so you can move it closer or further away from you, depending on your preference.

Noise-Cancellation

According to EKSA, the E3Z Air Joy Plus headphones feature ENC, also known as environmental noise-cancellation. This means that the headphones are designed in such a way that they can passively block outside noise (to a certain degree) to help make it a more immersive listening experience.

While active noise-cancellation might be more effective at truly blocking out the sounds around you, the upside to this passive noise-cancellation method is that it requires no batteries or additional hardware, all of which can add to cost and also bulk, which helps explain why these headphones are as light as they are.

Wallet-Friendly Pricing

So with the design and all of its features, some of you might be concerned that it could end up being another pricey “gamer” accessory, but surprisingly it’s actually quite affordable. EKSA is selling the E3Z Air Joy Plus for only $36.

This is actually an early bird discount where it would have typically been sold for $52, so if you have been shopping for a new pair of gaming headphones, this could actually be a pretty good value for money. It also comes with a USB extender in case the included cable isn’t long enough, and a carrying case.
