Earlier this week, Microsoft started rolling out a rather major update for Windows 11. After showing off the ability to use Android apps during the announcement last year, you can now finally use the Amazon App Store to download Android apps.
Technically, Microsoft is still labeling the Amazon App Store support as a “Preview” feature. But if you want to try Android apps on your Windows 11 PC, Microsoft has provided some guidelines (via Windows Latest) for what the internal specs of your machine should look like.

- Intel Core i3 8th Gen (minimum) or above
- AMD Ryzen 3000 (minimum) or above
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 8c (minimum) or above
- RAM
- 8GB (minimum)
- 16GB (recommended)
- Storage type
- Solid State Drive (SSD)
- Processor architecture
- x64 or ARM64
- Virtual Machine Platform

As expected, the list of recommended specs includes the Snapdragon 8c along with support for ARM devices. This means you’ll be able to use devices like the Surface Pro X paired with some of the best Android apps.
Provided that you meet the minimum requirements, you’ll then be able to access and download more than 1,000 different apps. As a reminder, this does not include apps from the Play Store as Microsoft partnered with Amazon to bring Android apps to your desktop and Windows laptops.
Outside of enabling virtualization, you’ll first need to check the Microsoft Store for its latest updates. You will also want to double-check for any potential system updates and after everything is installed, open the Microsoft Store back up. Then, you should see a spotlight for Amazon App Store apps.
Some of the top apps include Amazon’s own apps such as Kindle and Audible, but there are also some popular games available for download such as Final Fantasy XV and 8 Ball Pool. Let us know if you’ve started to mess around with Android apps on Windows and what your experience has been.
