If you are still holding onto your OnePlus 8 handset, then you might be interested to learn that OnePlus has announced that the Oxygen OS 12 update is rolling out to users. This will cover devices in the OnePlus 8 series, which includes the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, and the OnePlus 8T.
OnePlus announced last December that the update would be rolling out to those who owned the OnePlus 9 series, so it’s good to see that it didn’t take the company too long to push it out to owners of the OnePlus 8 family. Granted it feels a bit late, especially with Android 13’s Developer Preview already out, but better late than never, we suppose.
For those who don’t plan on upgrading to a new phone anytime soon, the good news is that the Android 12 update should breathe new life into your device. As Oxygen OS 12 is based on Google’s Android 12, users will be able to look forward to all the changes that Android 12 has brought to the table.
Users will also be able to look forward to new features in Oxygen OS, such as optimized icons with better textures, dark mode with adjustable levels, new style options for Cards, a new Earphone Control Card, new and easy access to OnePlus Scout, and the OnePlus Watch Card.
There will also be new controls that will let users quickly switch between Work and Life settings, improvements to the Gallery app that will allow users to switch between layouts using gestures, and more. The update is currently being rolled out to open beta users, but it will eventually reach those in the stable channel, so don’t worry if you don’t see it available yet.
