By Virgin Mobile in Canada’s just let a huge one leak out. Most of the phones in this particular leak aren’t Android based – and the one that we can see isn’t one of Samsung’s prettier offerings – but it looks like Virgin will be getting the Samsung Galaxy 5. It was originally said that the device would be coming November 12th, and this roadmap keeps it right on track. Remember the specs on this one? If not, listen up: a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, Android 2.1, TouchWiz, a 600MHz processor, a two-megapixel camera with video recording, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, and more.

Let’s see… tiny screen, one generation off version of the OS, slow processor, barely megapixels camera, Samsung’s fabulous GPS (Galaxy S users, you may all give a raspberry together. Ready? On 3. One, Two, Three — Ptbptbptb !!!).
With that fabulous feature set, where do I sign up?
Is it just me or doesn’t anybody else notice a white iphone-looking device (and a black one) under the section “Open Platform”?

I don’t think that I would ever buy anything from Virgin Mobile, they copied Koodo with their tab. Their ETF’s are way too much, their plans are horrible, they are a third rate carrier in Canada and I would only buy a device from them if I was going to run an RUU and then unlock the device.
I mean you have Bell confirmed with the Desire Z coming in Nov, and now you have Telus confirming that they are going to running that other horrible OS, which the name doesn’t even suit it. Either way Virgin will never be anything but a 3rd option for most.

While you are busy spending your rent money on a Desire or some other phone you don’t need I’ll be more than happy to buy this phone for what I need it for. Ya know, making phone calls. I know the concept of using a cell phone mostly just as a cell phone must be quite strange to you.
