The line of Android handsets that most recently saw the Sharp IS03 is about to get three new family members on KDDI in Japan. Toshiba, Sharp, and Pantech are each contributing one Android device with the same branding for the carrier, all of which come with built-in 1-Seg TV tuners.
Toshiba gives us the REGZA IS04 with a 4-inch, 854×480 touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon, an a 12.19MP camera. If those specs make you drool, don’t worry. The handset is waterproof as the company obviously anticipated Android fans slobbering all over it. The only downside to this January 2011 release is the inclusion of Android 2.1, something that a firmware update hopefully will solve.
The other two handsets feature Froyo and 3.4-inch screens. The Sharp IS05 features a resolution of 854×480 while the Pantech SIRIUSα IS06 runs at 800×480. The IS05 also gets an 8MP camera, 720p HD video recording, and a Snapdragon processor. The IS06 gets a 5MP camera and will operate on KDDI’s new WIN HIGH SPEED data service with downloads of up to 9.2Mbps and uploads of 5.5Mbps. The IS06 will drop in December.
