Amazon Drive is Shutting Down in 2023

0

In an email to its customers earlier today, Amazon announced that it will soon shut down its online cloud storage platform, also known as Amazon Drive. The retail giant revealed that the service will be discontinued at the end of 2023, although it will not affect the company’s Amazon Photos service.

According to the company, Amazon Drive’s closure is to direct its focus on its photo and video storage services with Amazon Photos, adding that any stored photos and videos should be readily available on the latter service.

Starting January 31, 2023, users will no longer be able to upload new files. If you have files saved on Amazon Drive, it’s also advised that you download them as early as possible, as access to files including viewing and downloading content will no longer be available on December 31, 2023.

First launched in 2011, Amazon Drive offered users with 5GB of data storage online, which could be accessed anywhere on a computer, or from an iOS or Android device. Over the years, Amazon has evolved from an online and retail merchandising platform to an all-around brand name, investing in online streaming services, smart assistant devices, and even the development and sale of devices such as smartphones and tablets.
