The Avatar franchise (no, not the blue alien kind) has seen a revival of sorts recently, thanks to a new set of movies that bring more content and stories to the beloved animated series. With that said, a new mobile game titled “Avatar Generations” was recently unveiled by Square Enix, marking the latest addition to the popular media franchise.
Developed by Square Enix London Mobile in partnership with Vancouver-based studio Navigator Games, the new title will feature role-playing gameplay with a turn-based format, although it will employ a free-to-play system, which keeps in line with the trend of most mobile games nowadays. Additionally, the game will follow the events of the original series, featuring Aang’s quest to fulfil his destiny of becoming a powerful Avatar. Gamers will also be able to play as several characters from the series.
Patrick Naud, Head of Mobile, Square Enix Montréal, states “We are thrilled to unveil ‘Avatar Generations’ as the second official title in production from Square Enix London Mobile and I can’t wait for players to dive in later this year… Avatar Generations represents Square Enix London Mobile’s continued investment in publishing high-quality free-to-play mobile titles based on iconic IPs.”
Currently, there’s no official release date for the game yet, so fans of the franchise will have to do a bit of waiting for more announcements.
