Upcoming MediaTek chipset looks like it could be a performance beast

0

When it comes to smartphone chipsets, it is the general consensus that Qualcomm’s chipsets are the preferred hardware of choice amongst Android devices, but it seems that the sentiment could be shifting in the future, especially if these benchmarks for MediaTek’s latest chipset are accurate.

MediaTek is expected to unveil its next-gen chipset in the near future in the form of the Dimensity 9200, and according to the benchmarks, it looks like the chipset has managed to outperform some of the current-gen models, like Apple’s A16 Bionic which can be found in the company’s new iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, and also Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

Additional information from Digital Chat Station has also revealed that the peak clock speed of the chipset is at 3.05GHz, while the performance cores have a clock speed of 2.85GHz, and the efficiency cores are clocked at 2.0GHz, and that it will come with the Mali-G715 GPU.

Take note that benchmarks don’t always tell the full story of how well a handset performs. There are also software optimizations to consider, plus not everyone might be using their phones in a way that will be able to squeeze out the max performance from the chipset, but it might still be something to keep an eye out for in the future.
