Samsung is one of the world’s largest smartphone vendors, and in 2022 alone, the company could ship as many as 260 million handsets, but that’s a figure that Samsung wants to change in 2023.
According to a report out of South Korea, Samsung is reportedly aiming to increase the number of phones it ships from 260 million to 270 million. This is lower than Samsung’s usual target of 300 million, but it could bring them closer to their glory days where back in 2017, Samsung managed to ship 320 million units, a figure that they haven’t been able to achieve since.
The report also claims that Samsung will be banking more on its foldables to hit those targets. Apparently Samsung will be increasing the share of its foldable phones in its annual targets, meaning that the company is hoping to ship even more foldables next year compared to this year.
Much has changed in the market since 2017. Many things have happened, like the pandemic which has had an impact on production. It also affected the economy where businesses were forced to shut down or temporarily halt their activities, affecting revenue and salaries in the process.
Plus there is the ongoing problem of inflation, meaning that more people could be hesitant to spend their money than they did a few years ago. Either way, we’ll have to wait and see if Samsung will be able to hit their targets come 2023.
