Google Search is one of the most powerful search engines available right now. For the most part, many of us are used to using Google as our default search engine, but in recent times, OpenAI’s ChatGPT has been getting a lot of attention due to the way users can input their search queries in more natural language fashion.
Obviously Google isn’t going to take this lying down and so it doesn’t come as a surprise that according to a CNBC report, Google is said to be looking to create an alternative to ChatGPT. The report claims that Google is testing a new chatbot called “Apprentice Bard” (presumably a placeholder name) that allows users to ask questions and receive answers similar to ChatGPT.
Apparently this came about as Google employees started to raise concerns about how ChatGPT was gaining so much popularity and how it might affect Google’s edge when it comes to AI.
Google has, over the years, been hard at work developing its own AI and have implemented it in several products, such as Google Assistant. They have also applied it in other small ways to services like Gmail, where based on the contents of the email, users are given a set of replies to choose from to reply emails quickly.
Google has also applied its AI technology to other services like Google Photos, and more. That being said, it might be a while before we see this type of conversational AI applied to Google Search, which is one of the company’s core businesses, so don’t hold your breath just yet.
