Samsung is expected to launch three variants of the Galaxy S24 series. There will be the base model, the Galaxy S24+, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra. If you’re thinking of getting the base Galaxy S24, then you might want to take note of its storage.
This is because according to a post on Naver by South Korean tipster yeux1122, it seems that the storage that the base model will be using will be a UFS 3.1 storage, whereas the Galaxy S24+ and Ultra models will utilize the faster UFS 4.0 storage.
For context, UFS 4.0 offers about twice the sequential reading speeds compared to UFS 3.1, and more than twice the writing speeds of UFS 3.1, and it also has the added benefit of being more energy efficient which means that it will contribute to overall battery life. For those wondering why this matters, it could have an impact on how fast photos and videos are recorded to your phone’s storage as well as accessing files.
To be fair, UFS 3.1 isn’t slow. It’s just that UFS 4.0 is considerably faster in comparison so by opting to save a bit of money, you could end up sacrificing read and write speeds in the process. If you’re not too bothered by that, then we suppose it’s a non-issue, but for those who do a lot of productivity tasks or take a lot of photos and videos, then maybe you should consider the Galaxy S24+ if the Ultra is out of your budget.
