Last year, Samsung pretty much went all-in with Qualcomm for all their flagship phones. That strategy didn’t last long because this year, starting with the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung returned to a mix of Qualcomm and Exynos chipsets, and now it looks like they’ll be applying that strategy to the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6.
This is according to a post on X by user @kro_roe who claims that Samsung could launch the Flip 6 in Qualcomm and Exynos variants. Presumably the same regions that got the Exynos Galaxy S24 will also get the Exynos Flip 6. This could mean that for some, the Flip 6 will be a hard pass.

Samsung’s Exynos chipsets have gotten a lot of hate over the years. This is largely due to how Samsung’s Exynos chipsets are worse than Qualcomm’s chipsets in terms of performance and battery life. We wouldn’t say the differences are huge. But the main gripe is that customers who pay the same amount shouldn’t expect differences in performance.
The upside here is that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 could get an outer display upgrade. The post claims that Samsung will bump the cover screen to a 120Hz refresh rate. We’re not sure if that helps, but it’s not a bad upgrade. The new foldables haven’t been announced yet. They’re expected to be revealed this July, so until then, take it with a grain of salt.
