Google might have a smartphone loyalty problem

0

When we buy a product, why do we choose the brands that we choose? There are a myriad of reasons for that, which includes price, features, lifestyle, and something that most companies chase, brand loyalty. Unfortunately for Google, it seems that smartphone loyalty is something they still need to foster.

According to a recent survey conducted by Stocklytics, Google could have a smartphone loyalty problem on their hands. When asked how likely they are to change their smartphone brand for their next purchase, a whopping 57% of Google Pixel owners said that they would. This is versus brands like Apple and Samsung who both clocked in at 34%. When asked how unlikely it would be to change brands, Pixel owners were at 25%, while Apple commanded a whopping 50% and Samsung 44%. These numbers are actually kind of interesting.

Google makes arguably some of the best Android smartphones today. While we wouldn’t necessarily call their hardware bleeding edge, the combination of the software and hardware makes for one of the best Android experiences you can get. However, from what we can gather, Google is more interested in using its Pixel devices to showcase the potential of Android.

This is versus other brands that want to turn a profit from their smartphone sales. It also explains why Google doesn’t seem too interested in expanding the official availability of its Pixel phones. In any case, we’re not sure if Google is bothered by the lack of loyalty versus other brands, but it might be something they should look into anyway.
