Hit Mobile Game Flappy Bird is Making a Comeback

0

Remember Flappy Bird, the super-popular game which first made its appearance on smartphones a decade ago? Years after the game was pulled from digital store fronts, it looks like a new studio is determined on bringing back the simple-but-addictive mobile game with new content.

A newish version of Flappy Bird is set to return later in October, and will come with expanded content in addition to the base game. It will also be available for mobile platforms such as Android and iOS, although it won’t arrive until next year. One thing to note though is that the game apparently no longer belongs to its original creator Dong Nguyen, who despite financial success from it stated that it was ruining his simple life.

Instead, the game will be handled by the “Flappy Bird Foundation” which has acquired the official Flappy Bird trademark from Gametech Holdings LLC, an American company that in turn claimed the trademark from Nguyen, as well associated intellectual property. Nguyen isn’t a part of this upcoming launch either.

As for expanded content, there’s talks of new game modes, characters, progression, as well as multiplayer challenges.Michael Roberts, who is part of the new team handling the game quotes:

We are beyond excited to be bringing back Flappy Bird and delivering a fresh experience that will keep players engaged for years to come. We have big plans for our little Bird!
