Android 16 could FINALLY bring back these useful shortcuts

0

Typically with every major OS update, companies make changes to the software by redesigning certain elements of its UI. However, in the Android 12 update, Google made some changes that weren’t appreciated by some users where they remove single-tap access to WiFi and Bluetooth. That could change in the Android 16 update that should be released in 2025.

According to a report from Android Authority, it appears that Android 16 could see the return of quick access to WiFi and Bluetooth settings. At the moment, users who want to quickly enable or disable WiFi or Bluetooth through the Quick Settings panel will have to go through additional steps.

Prior to Android 12, these settings were available so users who wanted to quickly enable or disable WiFi or Bluetooth could just tap on the icon and be done with it. After the update, users had to go through additional steps. While not exactly the hugest inconvenience, it is an extra step that we’re sure some users would rather skip. Also, this will depend from phone to phone. Some phones that use a more heavily customized skin or UI could still have these quick toggles.

As you can see in the screenshot above, Android 16 has redesigned it slightly so users can enable or disable those settings without jumping through an additional hoop. It’s a small quality of life update that some users can probably appreciate. That being said, note that Android 16’s release is still quite a long ways away. Things can always change from now until then, but hopefully this will stay.
