By Sanjay Jha – CEO of the newly-formed Motorola Mobility – delivered a keynote speech yesterday at the Cedit Suisse 2010 Technology Conference where he covered a lot of topics. Most of them pertained to Motorola Mobility’s plans going forward, as we would have guessed, but he dropped a few nice confirmations: yes, they will have a 4G phone early next year. It’s worth noting that the question didn’t mention phones specific to Verizon’s newly-launched 4G LTE network – nor did his answer sway toward Big Red – but we can’t imagine they won’t have an LTE-enabled phone with them.
He also said that a developing “competitive dynamic” going on at Verizon for the first quarter of 2011 would hurt Motorola’s Q1 performance. There’s only one “dynamic” we could think of going to Verizon that would have Motorola shaking in their boots. It starts with A and ends with “pple”. (Was that too obvious?) Anywho, Motorola’s not letting that slow them down and we’ll still see the crop of high-end tablets and smartphones that we expect to see, including the Motorola Olympus superphone bound for AT&T. @dork, the chances of that happening are about the same as you winning a billion dollars and having a naked Megan Fox show up at your house to deliver the check. If it’s not yet clear to the people who keep calling for stock Android (and also boycots until it happens), your numbers and overall importance isn’t as large as you think it is.

No one is mentioning the part where Jha stated he’s going to drop way more Motorola smartphones and tablets to AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile. Ridiculous how that wasn’t their game plan from the beginning, but it’s better late than ever. Can’t wait to see a Motorola Sprint WiMax spartphone next year.
i couldnt give a crap about 4g if they keep motoblur and locked bootloaders on there phones 3gs just fine for me and id rather have a slow stock android phone on 3g than a 2.2 ghz dual core phone on on 4g with motoblur.
@austin: I definitely hear you and agree with you, but I’m more excited of the fact that Sprint will even have a true Motorola smartphone. Look at the other 3 carriers and then look at Sprint. Motorola i1? Seriously? A company that’s involved in their Nextel divisions, WiMax, and future LTE plans, and that’s it?
Who cares? Motofail puts out more phones w/ older Android versions, even phones recently out in the last few months. And then they take forever to update phones that they promised to be updated months ago. Just ask the Cliq (who just got 2.1) and Cliq XT (who are still waiting) owners. Take care of your customers, and they’ll keep coming back. What makes anyone think Motorola will come out with something up-to-date? As a former Cliq XT owner, i wouldn’t believe Sanjay Jha if his tongue was notarized.

Why stock android first? Why not do it last? Why do idiots cry “first!”? Why do these questions need to be asked? Middle!
Isn’t it also important that he confirmed Moto coming out with BOTH a 7″ and 10″ tablet “in the near future”. I would like to know his definition of near future, but I’m all over the 10″, unless I start hearing about a 10″ HTC tablet on the way.
Moto need to DO THEIR THANG! and not worry about those Apple guys, as Apple is their own worse enemy with their restrictive policies. Keep innovating and most importantly GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT, and the masses will eventually see through that apple hype!
If the Iphone comes to Verizon and it is not an LTE phone, then that will be a bigger hit then the Iphone not doing flash

@MW I am with you, I do not like IOS UI or its restrictive everything for cash attitude. Moto needs to come up with a stellar phone and not worry about A to the PPLE. Apple has one phone in its product line and I dont like it. The only good thing about Apple are the games……..
I dont know, why do ppl keep complain about motoBLur thing so much, dont like it?, get launcher pro. Apart from making the interface sluggish, blur makes the phone better, the ‘red’er keyboard is definitely better. The sluggishnes can be more than gotten rid of by using launcher pro.
I think people on android forums love to crib, previously they used to complain about iPhones, now they have nit pick on touchwiz or Blur or some other UI.
