What kind of week would it be without someone suing someone else for anything? A slow one, that’s what kind.
Sony decided it was offended by LG and launched a lawsuit yesterday against Lucky Goldstar in the U.S. District Court in the Central District of California. The suit targets two U.S. based subsidiaries of LG: LG Electronics Mobilecomm U.S.A. Inc. and LG Electronics U.S.A. Inc.
The specifics of the case haven’t been made public; however chances are Android or LG devices running Android aren’t targeted directly. But with the way technology lawsuits are going these days, one can safely bet it will be dragged into the ring in one way or the other.

Can somebody please sue the lawyers who file all these frivolous tech lawsuits, so we can get them to stop suing every other company in sight? I think there should be like a 10-year ban on all tech lawsuits, specifically software-related ones.
@Brad you said it. But then again these companies have MILLIONS to play with. This may be like recess for them. stretch their legs, flex their corporate muscles by suing someone else.
Considering the absence of any information on the suit, how can anyone say it is frivolous?
Its not the lawyers themselves so much as the US Patent office and their ridiculous rules on what is worthy of being a patent and what is not. Simply put if someone figures out how to make something a different way than the other person its supposedly worth patenting. The problem is did they use part of the other patent in creating the new technique and if so is it substantial enough to warrant a lawsuit.
Stupid system
@Richard…I agree. I’ll add that I think they need to stop allowing ideas alone to be patented. A paragraph description and a drawing should not be enough. Make a working prototype or get lost. Regular people can almost no longer try to invent anything because some joker in the middle of nowhere made a drawing on a napkin 6 years ago and is just waiting to sue someone who dares to actually make a product.
We need an entire revamp of the patent laws regarding intellectual property, but, that requires all of the lawyers in Congress to agree to do something that will take a lot of money out of the pockets of lawyers. Is there possibly a conflict of interest here?
@Brad, that’s funny i am laughing my head off right now.
Worst title for this article.
So basically, no idea that this will have anything to do with Android in any way but its here. Right. Is this a filler?
What in the world could Sony be suing LG for??
