Among HTC’s lineup of freshly announced Sense devices is the HTC Incredible S, successor to — you guessed it — the HTC Incredible. The phone keeps the original’s sculpted shape running around the back of the phone and highlighting where the handset’s internal hardware rests, but a 4-inch display gives it a bigger footprint. It remains instantly recognizable among HTC’s lineup, however.
It is the only member of HTC’s new set of Android Smartphones to feature a set of black-out capacitive buttons. This is the phone we saw leaked a few weeks back that we were calling “buttonless.” Turns out the feature was no more than an aesthetic design choice (though it does play a small role in conserving battery life). That same leak suggests that this as-of-now Europe-only device will be making its way to Verizon in due time.
As far as the experience goes, the phone features Android 2.2 with the updated version of HTC Sense first found on the Desires HD and Z. With larger screens becoming the norm, the phone feels pretty natural in hand and makes the Desire S seem a bit scrawny by comparison. An updated 1GHz Snapdragon and plenty of RAM with 768MB make it nice and snappy, but we would have liked to see something dual-core from HTC (even if it wasn’t this phone). An 8MP camera and front-facing camera tag-team on image and video capture.
As an update to the classic Incredible, we really can’t complain. It’s as good as the first and better in many ways. It should be out in Europe sometime during Q2.

Wrong, Desire S and others will have Sense 3.0, while Desire Z and Desire HD have Sense 2.0.

This phone has no right to include “Incredible” in it’s branding. It’s name should be changed to the HTC “Same Old Crap”. Hopefully this summer when the other manufacturers are launching their Tegra phones, HTC will pull something innovative out from up their sleeves.

I hope this isnt the US version. I really expected HTC to come with a Highend device. And so far these look like refreshes from last year. i love the design of the incredible but they shouldve at least added 4g or duo core. It probably has updated cpu, but still thats not a big leap from last years incredible. I do like the fact the screen size is larger. But design wise it looks pretty similar to the previous.
Here’s a question about all these new phones being announced over the past few weeks. A lot of them feature a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor (the ones that aren’t dual core, at least). Is this the same Snapdragon that went into the earlier generation phones, like the original Incredible, the EVO, Droid X, etc.? Or is it the updated processor like what’s in the MyTouch 4G?
What are the two tiny holes at the bottom back side and to the left of the rear cam? Extra mics or speaker outlets?

So Inc S doesn’t have an optical trackpad.? Doesn’t that basically make it a black ‘Thunderbolt’?

And I thought Motorola was slacking when it came to releasing the upgrade to the Droid X. At the very least, the Droid X2 has a dual core processor and 1GB of Ram. This new Incredible, which I was looking forward to, to upgrade to, is nothing but the same phone, w/ a bigger screen. Totally disappointed. Ugh.

It really does sound like a 3G version of the Thunderbolt (with a slightly smaller screen, although there may also be differences in cameras, etc.) If so, why would anyone want that, except to save a few bucks on the purchase?
As to the 2nd gen Snapdragon, I’m aware of two differences: 45 nm architecture (instead of 65 nm) and a somehow improved Adreno GPU.
You list Android 2.2 but in the video they state Android 2.3.
T-Mobile yet again doesn’t get shown any love… maybe my fate lies in the mytouch 4G afterall…
C’mon HTC if you are gonna revamp a phone then atleast keep it up to date. The Incredible was one of my personal favorites as well as being one of the fastest androids out there especially rooted it stood out in design to me. So I have to say that I am disappointed as I am sure many of you are too….Boooo HTC!

This is incredibly disappointing.
HTC is surely the biggest disappointment out of all the OEM new releases. A tablet running Gingerbread? A series of phones w/o dual core processors. They better come out on fire for Q2.
The first Dinc was the best verizon phone of its generation hands down. X, Facinate, D2 had nothin on it. This one… not so hot.
The X and Dinc were comparable. Man I hate to say it, but the Bionic is looking like it might be the only dual core phone out on verizon by the time my contract is up
I still have until December before my new every two kicks in and until April next year before my contract is up. I’m waiting on the Inc. 3. haha
Looks like I will be holding on to my incredible a bit longer….don’t like blur enough to buy a moto and I refuse to give money to samsung due to what they do to their customers! Hopefully something better comes along!

Where’d you get your info on the DX2? I love my DX and, because of dual core, was considering the Bionic when it launches, but I am kinda turned off by the 512Ram. Hadn’t really heard any info on DX2 yet, but if what you state is true (1Gb Ram), I’ll definitely hold out for THAT over the Bionic!
