Amazon.de sure does seem to have a thing for being the first place to post up pre-order prices for all the hottest upcoming handsets. The latest to get a page on the German Amazon store is the Samsung Galaxy S II, the upgraded sibling to the original Galaxy S (if the name didn’t give it away). While no release or shipping date is mentioned, the handset itself is priced at 599 euro off contract. That equates to about $830 in US currency. In other words, considering European prices tend to be a bit higher the Galaxy S II should be priced right where we would expect compared to other phones in its range.

I would get this phone tomorow if it were on Verizon. Too bad we probably won’t get a version for 6 months.
Would love to see this come stateside hopefully by June. This device is clearly the best on the market from a technology standpoint and I am not even a samsung follower
CTIA needs to hurry up cuz I’m gettin tired of EVERY PHONE being announced as coming to everyone but US. T-Mobile has nothing on the horizon but theres a hand full of high quality phones floating around now…
Anybody remember how long it was for the US variants of the original galaxy s? I hope they bring it to us soon.
I recall the International Galaxy S came out early June and the Vibrant came out July 15th, Captivate days later. VZW and ATT’s SGS2 variants could possibly be right behind the International Galaxy S2 this time around but I don’t see Sprint or Tmobile getting one until early summer. BUT who knows what will be revealed in 3 weeks!!
I too am not, or at least was not a Samsung follower until I saw this new Galaxy S II. I wasn’t even into Smartphones, but I am looking forward to getting this beauty as soon as they are available in Canada. Good bye home phone, Good bye internet . . . Hello Samsung Galaxy S II Smartphone! Gorgeous phone, and an out-of-this-world name – I Love the logo, I love the Galaxy series, and I’m sure I’ll love my new Galaxy S II! Can’t wait . . .
I completely agree Pimpstrong!! It gets irritating to say the least watching every new phone that hits the market, come out in every country but ours!! I know most manufacturers aren’t US based, but Motorola is, (and I’m sure a couple others are.) Screw cheap labor and bring those manufacturing jobs back to America. Then maybe we won’t have to be the red-headed stepchild of the cell phone world! (no offense to red-headed stepchildren) :)
Remember this phone will be coming to T-Mobile but the galaxy 4G is selling rite now so they want to give it some time before introducing this one. Remember it is rumored that the optimus 2X, galaxy S2, Sidekick, Htc pyramid are all scheduled for t-mobile
Could have sworn I saw this thing with dual-led rear flash
concerning the pricing i’d guess it will go as it did with the galaxy s (1). it was announced by amazon for ~550-600 euros for preordering but the price dropped to 450 euros almost instantly after it was actually sold. great piece of hardware (again) :)
@Richard you was just clowning us samsung galaxy owners about a week ago. Lol what made you want to go the samsung route now mr. HTC evo guy?
Youre wrong its 670$. You forgot to subtract taxes which are 19%.
I can see a £479 in the UK I reckon
I will get this phone just as soon as Hell freezes over.

That’s almost as expensive as an iPhone… I think I will pass for the moment.
German prices include 2 year warranty and 19% sales tax! Prices in USD without contract should pretty much equate 1:1 => 600$
What make Galaxy S2 so expensive?
@snapper.fishes
Maybe because it’s gonna be the best smartphone on the market and the only one to really compete with iPhone 5 :)
Touchwiz – ick!

Samething happend to the LG Optimus 2x. Samsung has actually a history about announcing high-end devices at 650 Euro recommended price, but the allways sell for just over 450 Euro on release. Examples are the Omnia II and the sgs I.
android not as good as iphone. but a compromise for those who want iphone ui
They added a flash, that’s what makes it so expensive. jk
It has got a dual core processor.
