A new version of Google Earth is now available, fully optimized for the larger screen real estate provided by tablets and ready to roll on Android Honeycomb. The update brings fully textured 3D views of buildings to make your virtual sight-seeing tours more true-to-life, while the larger screen affords for a new action bar to search and navigate through various layers. When using Earth on a tablet, additional information layers will pop-up on on top of earth view, such as user photos via Panoramio.
You can download the new version of Google Earth to your Honeycomb tablet now. Follow the Android Market link below.

You know Google rushed out Honeycomb when it took them 3 months to deliver a Honeycomb experience on one of THEIR apps.
You said it….No wonder it was called the Xoom…if it wasn’t rushed, they’d call it the Nexus something. Now the nexus tablet (according to rumors) will supposedly ship later this year. Maybe more info at google i/o. But that is just a rumor, which I happen to believe.
Does this bring 3d textured buildings to phones too? Would love that option for when on wifi.
You know google rushed out Honeycomb when 3 months later, they still have apps with big install bases that aren’t optimized for honeycomb. Google Voice and Reader are still phone apps. In fact, I don’t think you can even install google voice.
Google really needed to have this when Honeycomb launched. Its no wonder no one else took the time to optimize apps for the launch of Honeycomb, Google wasn’t even doing so.
You’re right. I was hoping they would learn from the iPad launch. Before iPad launched many people still thought it’s just a bigger iPod Touch. But when it did launch and had like 2000 apps on launch day, then it showed people what you can really *do* with a tablet. Something that Google didn’t show. I just hope they don’t repeat this mistake with Chrome OS, but something tells me they won’t.
It’s been almost 3 months, and they STILL haven’t been able to show what you can do with an Android tablet.
Why? They don’t care. They will slowly fix things white all the anti-apple trolls on the internet will keep getting suckered on, all while bragging online about how they have “choice” and “freedom”. Then google will release another half baked product, and attempt to fix it within 6 months. The cycle continues.
@Rhad
True that.
For devs to make a good honeycomb app experience they need a tablet. I’m pretty sure most devs weren’t thrilled with the idea of spending $800 on the Xoom with the uncertainty that they would profit from building honeycomb apps.
With the release of the Acer and Asus I’d expect to see an explosion of honeycomb apps in the next couple months.
Google, on the other hand, has no excuse for not integrating all of their apps for HC.
